Welcoming

Lovely flat site with large gated entrance Billy & Margret were very welcoming & always available If you needed them. Grass is well mown & facilities very clean. Ladies toilet & Mens toilet & small information room. The site is very private surrounded by large trees & each pitch has a hedgerow for privacy. Yes there is some road noise but nothing too bad. The car wash opposite really didn’t cause any noise. Very easy to visit surrounding areas. Walk into chipping Norton 20 minutes a footpath runs from the roundabout all the way to town Aldi is a 10 minute walk from site or Waitrose is in the shell garage 5 minutes away Will definitely return.

Tidy site but too much surrounding noise

The site is well located for Chipping Norton and the surrounding area. It is well maintained, and kept clean and tidy, if a little old. Access is very easy and the site is gently sloping. As other reviews have said, the high hedges completely block any views of the surrounding countryside, but at least they may provide good shelter in high winds. For us the downside was the almost continuous road noise, and we were at the furthest end away from the road. The site is not far from a road junction, so the noise is of vehicles accelerating away from, or decelerating down to, the junction. In addition there is a car wash opposite which can make an annoying 'spray on car panel' noise every so often. Also a yappy dog next door. Would not recommend this site.

A bit too ‘private’

We had no difficulty getting to the site which is spacious flat lawn surrounded by incredibly high conifer hedges. Although it made it private it was also very dark and shaded round the perimeter giving a very claustrophobic feel. We were on the outermost pitch and the ‘quiet country lane’ beyond was very noisy with speeding cars, lorries and motorbikes all day and evening. There is a toilet, which was welcome. We didn’t get a lot of noise from the site next door except when they were mowing. It is possible to walk into town but the speeding traffic made this unpleasant and to get to the main road felt very dangerous with no footpath or verge.

Great site spoiled by neighbouring site.

I write this review before leaving tomorrow after spending 4 nights here. Billy and Margret were great and what a lot of the reviews mention is correct however: What a racket from the site next door with 2 days of a strimmer on full revs has resulted in the low mark for peace and tranquillity which has marred what would be a lovely stay.

This is our second visit and it most certainly won’t be our last, can’t wait until The next time. Thank you so much Mr Godwin your a star.

A well situated and spacious CL

We have recently returned from a 3 night stay at Larkfield. The weather was fabulous and added to whole experience. Mr and Mrs Goodwin were welcoming and friendly and the site has extremely spacious pitches ( we stayed on Pitch 2) which were separated by hedging, as well as the hedging around the border. Male and female WC was available, with all the Covid-19 sanitisers in place. The grass was short and well maintained. The site is extremely peaceful, with just a minimum of road noise from time to time. It's about a 30 minute walk into "Chippy", where I discovered one of the best ales, "Butty Bach" from Wye Valley Brewery, at the "Bitter & Twisted" pub. The local Aldi store is about halfway between the site and town. Great antiques centre at Station Mill, and plenty of lovely walks. We did one to Over Norton and Salford (where the pub is permanently closed unfortunately!) and back to Chippy, around 7.5 miles in all. I imagine this could become an annual trip to a beautiful part of the country!

Lovely site with great walks

We arrived at the site just after the COVID 19 restrictions were lifted and were warmly welcomed by the owner. The pitches were huge and surrounded by large conifers which gave you privacy though it was not claustrophobic. The site is easily accessible from a main road however we were not disturbed by any noise. We were in pitch 2 which was suggested to us on arrival. We had great walks using a mobile phone app and found some lovely little villages nearby, Adlestrop was just stunning. On leaving we were told to help ourselves to cherries from the tree by our van, they were delicious. Thank you! We would definitely use this site again and would recommend it to anyone. Thanks again Marion and Ernie

Very Welcoming

This is a quiet, beautiful site in rural countryside. All the facilities were wonderful, and Mr and Mrs Goodwin gave a very warm welcome. This is great value for money. We can’t wait to visit again!

Friendly Welcome by Owners

A great site with friendly and helpful owners. massive pitches for awning and car with plenty of room for outside garden furniture if required. Mr Goodwin even supplied a paving slab to place our fire pit on. Toilet facilities Ladies and Gents very clean with a good supply of the essentials. The site is central to many historical locations i.e Banbury, Stratford upon Avon, Warwick Etc. The only drawback is the quiet country road the site is situated on, is sometimes used by boy racers and bikers who tend to open their throttles on this straight stretch of road. However this did not distract us from this lovely well kept site and we will be back.

It was OK

we stayed at this CL, for the first time over the bank holiday weekend. in all fairness it was as described. very large pitches, the grass could have done with a visit from the lawn mower. The view was !!!, well there wasn't one, the site is surrounded by 20 foot conifer hedge, so all you see is green. i understand why the owner has done this. it has been done to deaden the sound of the busy road (unsuccessfully) but the time has come to reduce the hedges by a good 6 foot. Not a bad site, but at £15 per night there are nicer sites with a view, locally for that price
