Quite With Great Veiws

We stayed here for 15 nights in October and had a great time overall. The facilities are basic, just a tap near the entrance and a basic CCEP on the other side of the field but this is reflected in the price. The site is located on the highest ground for miles around and the views are outstanding, there is a clear view for several miles across the Weald to the north and over Rye Harbour nature reserve and the English Channel to the south. There is a Vodaphone transmitter mast sharing the hilltop but apart from a faint whirring of fans in the immediate vicinity of it's compound it did not cause us any problems. There are lots of footpaths in the immediate vicinity, including a well maintained and marked path into Rye, a walk of about a mile, otherwise there is a bus stop at the end of the lane with an hourly service in either direction. There are two pubs within half a mile, and plenty more in Rye, some dating from medieval times and associated with tales of smugglers. TV reception seemed fine, we were able to get several channels with a small aerial on the side of the van, but being on a hilltop that was perhaps to be expected. We found so much of interest in the area that we will more than likely return, and will not hesitate to stay again on this CL.
