I have known Welcombe for decades but this is my first proper visit in many years. Leddon Farm is run by one of Welcombe's oldest families and so you can expect - and will get - a traditional warm welcome and an unintrusive stay. Elaine Cornish is very friendly and helpful (if you need her) - letting get on with your stay in peace. As one of the other reviewers has said, facilities are basic. But, for those of us who come here, this is exactly what we want: superb high-pressured water, toilet emptying point, and a place for rubbish. The field itself is very spacious, peaceful and wonderfully relaxed. It is a bargain at £6.00 a night. Leddon Farm is a busy working Farm, but this does not intrude. The site is across a country lane from the Farm and has incredible & big views of the rolling North Devon countryside and looks west towards one of Devon's most spectacular beaches, Welcombe Mouth - which is an easy walk from the site - especially if you walk home via Sandy Lane, which takes you straight pass the Old Smithy Inn, which has very convenient opening hours, well priced local beers and great food. From the site, it is a stone's throw away. There is a community shop and post office in the village - although a little way from the hamlet itself. The site is dog friendly with has walks galore. Welcombe is the real North Devon to me & Leddon Farm, thanks to the Cornishes, is the Welcombe of my childhood; I cannot recommend it high enough.
