We have stayed here numerous times, including spending Christmas here in 2022. Rob the owner and his wife are very friendly and welcoming.
The site is always clean and tidy and with the addition of water and EHU to each pitch this has made it a great place to stay.
This is a peaceful place to stay, but as stated in other reviews there is some traffic noise in the background, but this is mainly first thing in the morning and again in the evening, but it is not intrusive.
A conveniently located site for visiting North Devon
A basic CL but very well positioned for North Devon exploring. Within striking distance of Ifracombe, Woolacombe and Croyde for all those surfers. Rob was really friendly and was always ready for a chat. We did feel that we were somewhat exposed being so close to the road and it was a shame that the view was encumbered by the two holiday lets (which are amazing btw). Please follow Robs instructions for arrival as you do NOT want to follow SatNav!! You will end up going down some very narrow and windy Devonian roads!
Not really peaceful
Basic site, usuals of EHU water & waste disposal. But I’m afraid I don’t agree with the previous reviewers who say the site is peaceful. It may be on a country road but there is an awful lot of noise from speeding vehicles using it until late at night. You wouldn’t be able to sit out and chat during the early evening. Also not much of view- (new build holiday chalet blocks it) don’t really think it should be advertised as a peaceful site.
Karen & Kevin (Motorhome) Easter 2022
Lovely peaceful site, friendly & welcoming owners, highly recommended, will definitely be visiting again.
Peaceful, sheltered site well placed for visiting Barnstaple and North Devon
Sheltered by hills and trees the hardstanding pitches are well spaced with good sized grass area in between. There's 16amp unmetered hook up to each pitch and black and grey waste disposal area and a drinking water tap.
Rob, the owner, took over in 2019, and is working on improvements, he's in the currently in the process of adding water supply to 3 of the pitches.
He's helpful, friendly and brings round fresh eggs as a welcome gift.
He's also built a holiday let to the side of the site.
There is a dog walking field on site and about a mile through the quiet lanes on the side of Whiddon Valley there's a beautiful woodland walk, follow the sign for Westacott.
The picturesque village of Goodleigh is 2 miles in the other direction also on guiet lanes, there you'll find Coombe Woods, and a friendly village pub The New Inn that serves incredibly good food.
There's a bus stop right outside the site, going to Barnstaple or to Lynton in the other direction.
Great little hidden gem
The owner Rob has recently taken ownership of this site and is keen to develop it. His progress so far is very good and his plans sound excellent. Very easy access for either Motorhome or Caravan and nicely spaced pitches. Excellent views over the valley and easy to walk into Barnstaple, we took a taxi back because it is uphill, just £6! Would certainly revisit if in the area.
Great North Devon Location
Decided to stay in Barnstaple due to its location. The site although up a steep hill is approx one and a half miles from the town centre. However, its ideally centrally situated to visit other areas of North Devon. Just what we wanted.
Great warm welcome from Rob who is a really nice friendly accommodating guy. The pitches are very well spaced out with hardstanding and a grassed area for awnings, some with lovely views,
We had a great stay and would recommend if you wish to visit the area.

very peaceful site
We have just returned from a week at this little site near Barnstaple..
There are lovely views and it is very easy to access; We received a warm welcome from the owner who called on us a couple of times to see that we were Ok and asked if we would like some fresh eggs.
Ideal site for all the lovely north Devon beaches, and the Tarka trail for walking and cycling; Exmoor is within easy reach, and the National Trust Arlington estate is a short drive away.
We hope to return later in the year.
A hidden gem, that has a lot to offer
Turned up here on the off chance a few days ago, to our surprise we were on own. Not sure why? It is about 30 minute walk into town centre, it is located on the edge of town. Frequent daytime bus service, and about £6 taxi fare. The owner is very friendly and helpful. He has just updated electric points to 16amp,and is constantly improving facilities. A lovely quiet site, surrounded by tress, with level hardstanding pitches.
