Peaceful CL in pleasant surroundings

Access is easy: I don’t know why the road has a 6’6” width restriction because it is plenty wide enough. In fact this is one of the easiest CL accesses we’ve had and a huge coach campervan arrived when we were there. We stayed at Cox. Half the site is level with hardstands with 3 to 4 pitches, the other half is sloping with 1 hardstand pitch and the remainder grass. We stayed in April and the ground was very firm so some pitched on the grass. During the time we stayed 3 campervans parked on the lower (more sloping) section so it isn’t too steep for campervans. There are pleasant views looking down across the fields towards Chelmsford in the distance. This is a fruit farm which has mainly been turned over to horses. Horse paddocks surround both CLs. The CL was very peaceful. We saw deer twice from our van in the early morning. There are numerous footpaths in the area: several of which cross the farm. I recommend walking from the CL entrance past the church to the river then take the footpath along the bank. Simon is very welcoming and lent us a footpath map of the parish. This CL is great for visiting London which I did several times. You have two options. There’s a Park and Ride at Junction 18 of the A12 (the Junction you take for the CL) 5 minutes’ drive from the CL. Parking is free, the bus to Chelmsford station is £3.50 return. Trains to London are every 10-15 minutes and cost £22 for an off-peak return (leaving after 9:30 in the morning). Alternately drive to Ingatestone station (20 minutes of the CL) where parking is £6 for the day and an off-peak return (leaving after 9:30) is £18, trains are every 30 minutes. Trains take 30 minutes to get to London. So in 45 minutes you can get from London to this tranquil haven of a CL. We’ll certainly return to either Cox or Bramley in future.
