Ease of arrival/welcome

Lovely site if they followed the rules and stuck to 5 units

Stayed 2 weeks in May 2021. Beautiful site, access along a narrow one track lane not helped on Saturdays when cricket matches are taking place in an adjacent field and cars parked in the lane. No welcome whatever in fact never saw the owners the whole time we were there. 6 units on site for the 2 weeks and even 7 units one night, with 2 units coupled to one electric point using a splitter, the electric kept tripping and at 10.30pm the whole site tripped, is this even legal?? It is a shame really as otherwise this would be a perfect site.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review our CL, we were pleased to hear that you think it is a beautiful site.  We apologise for the inconvenience caused when the electricity tripped out for a short time, as far as we were aware the once, on one day of your stay. It took a minute to resolve when we were alerted to the issue.  We would like to assure you that our supply is usually reliable and is independently tested every 12 months in accordance CAMC CL operating rules.

We do our utmost to stick to the five caravan rule, not least because we receive an unannounced visit from the CAMC inspector every year.  We are sorry there were six on and seven on for one night during the second week of your stay.   There were only three on when you arrived.  We make mistakes with bookings from time to time and on this occasion we hadn’t amended the diary to include people who had rebooked their stay from March when we were in Lockdown.   The sending of deposits usually brings these oversights to our attention in good time but we haven’t asked for them this year because of Covid and so the oversight wasn’t noticed until the site was overbooked.  We have six hook-ups and plenty of space but a seventh caravan necessitated the use a splitter which was supplied by our electrician.  Regrettable, but it was for only one night and the visitor concerned was very understanding given the circumstances.

There has been a CL on our working farm for over forty years and in the 25 years we have run it we have come understand that visitors have differing expectations of their stay. We apologise for failing to meet yours by not welcoming you on arrival. Most of our visitors either pop down to the house at some point to introduce themselves or if they see us in passing about the farmyard or maintaining the site.  We are relaxed enough to not to think visitors rude if they don’t do that, even when they stay for a fortnight.
