Lovely site

Stayed here September 2020 with no issues. All very straightforward, we paid for the hard standing rather than CL, & that was the right decision. Lovely spacious pitch with area all around so didn’t feel enclosed. No issues at all & looking forward to returning.

Great Location

CL is part of a bigger site known as Elan Oaks. The location at the entrance to the Elan Valley and reservoir system is great. Enter through the CL field, and beyond that are a number of spacious, hard standing, serviced pitches, all very level. Beyond that is a sloping camping field. The CL field is basically a mount, with level pitching only possible on the top section so vans need to pitch fairly close together. A small, modern toilet/shower block is located in the same area - very clean with combined toilet & shower cubicles, but only 3 or 4. Apart from some portaloos in the cámping field, that’s all there is for the whole site. The owner is in the progress of adding more serviced pitches and a new sanitation but work looks like it’s stalled for the time being. The Elan Valley Trail passes alongside the site and is level and tarmaced, great for walkers and cyclists alike. The visitor centre is about 0.5 mile and Rhayader about 2.5 miles. My preference would be for the hard standing section rather than CL area.

Llanfadog What A Gem Of A Site

Llanfadog is a gem a of site. The facilities are spotless and clean and the views are just fantastic. The local areas scenery is stunning. Access is good, but definitely don't go over the grid in the road or you would have difficultly with a caravan or motorhome. Overall a fantastic CL site and we will return.

Don't misinterpret the travel instructions.

The site is set in stunning scenery. Mike keeps the facilities spotless. Agreed these are currently available to other campsite users which would be hectic in summer but understand planning has been given for another toilet block. Be aware the site is opposite the Elan Valley Hotel, don't go over the cattle grid or it gets interesting with a caravan.

Well kept site

We were travelling with friends so there was two of us in motor homes. On arrival there was already 3 caravans there and as the field slopes down quite a bit we felt we were parked very close to them as they had spread out. Although they did offer to move over for us we felt as we were only there for 2 nights it would be unfair to let them. The grass was cut short, the facilities are excellent and kept very clean. It is not entirely true that they were for the exclusive use of the CL as the campsite next door were using them too so got quite busy and had to queue at times. Free wifi was a bonus. It is in a fantastic location, close to the visitor centre and reservoirs. Very peaceful, the only thing that spoiled it was the midges that came out in the evening.

Peace and tranquility

Beautiful CL with stunning views, the fields are perfect with clean toilets and showers and even access to the river if you want to paddle your feet ! There are numerous walks nearby as you walk through the village or toward the dam. The reservoirs are stunning and so is nearby Gigrin farm where the red kites are fed daily (closed to public on Monday though) in the afternoon. Our second visit but definitely not the last, TV and phone reception good with sockets at the EHU and great wifi.

Stunning ??, stunning countryside

Lovely site within a 10 minute walk to the visitor centre. Entrance to the site is via a security barrier, first field is the ??, then there's a field containing 12 hardstanding super pitches, then a camping field. On the ??, 16amp ehu, TV, satellite hook up point plus WiFi. Only 3 wet rooms for the whole site, although there is 2 toilets near to the camping field. The site and facilities are kept to the highest standards by the wealth of knowledge; Mike.

Great CL

Probably the best CL I have stayed at. Very good email communication with owner when I booked. Easy to find & on arrival entrance barrier code worked perfectly. Very tidy large field for Members - 5 pitches EHU & three shower rooms with toilet and basin all in pristine condition. Owner visits every evening and cleans the whole site and is incredibly conscientious. Lovely area Elan Visitor Centre just up road is great for Coffee, Cakes and Lunch. The Dams and lakes them selves are awesome. Rhayader is an old fashioned mid Wales market town but has everything one would need. Only drawback for us was the midges which were a bit of a pain but didn't detract from the site at all 5*.

Pristine site

As others have said this is a beautiful well kept site in gorgeous countryside. Members have a five pitch area on grass with the best views.  The toilet/showers are immaculate but there are only three so be prepared to queue when busy.  An issue for those of you with a TV is the TV points are male (usually female) so you will need an adapter for your cable.  Also there are no washing up facilities yet although a start has been made, i.e. the frame to hold the sink, so you will need to have your own washing up equipment etc i.e. a bowl and hot water.  Otherwise cannot fault it.  Some have complained of the security but as this site has no staff near by I can understand the need and it is really no problem as long as you remember to wear your glasses ;)

Lovely spot shame about the weather

This is a great site in which to explore the surrounding countryside. The site was very clean and tidy, the facilities are very good if rather small, you may need to wait at busy times of the year. The weather was very unkind to us on this occasion with very high winds. The only down side was the rather excessive security; a long number to type in to get into the site and to use the toilet block - but this is very minor when put against the stunning views. The old oak trees in the woods surrounding the site are worth the trip on their own. We shall be back - probably in the summer and with a forecast of calm days.
