Rather Special

Southern Scotland has much to offer and we picked this site as it guaranteed a hard standing and is well placed for touring this lovely area. Having got stuck on grass pitches last year - and although this summer is dry so far - we feel it important to support hard standing CLs so they are still there for the rainy days in the future. The approach is up a stony farm track which needs a little care as you drive but you are amply rewarded when you reach the site with lovely long range views to the hills beyond Loch Ryan. The hard standings have grass next to them for awnings or chairs. Wooden seats are also provided on each pitch which is a nice touch. It is a working farm but we heard little general farm noise apart from the occasional tractors that understandably have to use the farm track at times. Claire has provided much more than we usually expect at a CL, with thoughtful touches like a dedicated CT Disposal Room - complete with wash hand basin, soap and towel. The standard Tourist Info leaflets were supplemented by the site with their own produced info on suggested places to visit. There was even a copy of the local newspaper to read. There are laundry facilities, shower room and toilets. Homemade produce was also available. It is in a lovely peaceful location and the thought and care that the owners have put into this site do make it rather special.
