Great Little Bolt Hole

After just purchasing our vintage caravan and joining Caravan Club we needed to find a site for one night to test everything out.  This site was 1.5 miles away from our door.  There is nothing in the way of facilities but don't let this bother you it may be in Merseyside but we could of been anywhere in the countryside we took two of our four kids and did not hear the word BORED once.  Nice level lawn pitches with tap and hook up. Also there is chemical waste area to use for grey water and toilet waste. Blue Wave Indian Restaurant a five minute walk away food fantastic, Liverpool a short drive or train journey as is Southport. Shame to review the site as this is one we would like to keep for ourselves. Will we be visiting again? Your damn right we will.

Few days in Liverpool

Easy to book and very helpful owner. Farm site, but it looked as though the farming had finished sometime ago. Caravan farming seemed to be the order of the day, as well as the CL, there were caravans stored in barns and on a spare field. Good assess and a locked gate. Each pitch had a EHU and water, good if you have  direct water system, bring your own connector though.  Had a good day in Liverpool, took the car as my wife uses a wheelchair, the site owner said best to take the train. Found a good car park near the waterfront. Everybody very helpful , did the tourist things, Round trip on the Mersey Ferry, looked round Albert Dock, but mostly restaurants and gift shops. Spent a day in New Brighton, small seaside town on the mouth of the Mersey, but on the day we went the weather was not good.  The site is handy for getting into Liverpool.

3 queens visit

2nd visit..but won't use again.main reason was that the2days of the Cunard ships visit. The price was increased£5.so for those2days fee was£17.Greedy!There were too many vans vans on our hook up so electric kept tripping. There were5vans on cl part&more vans on another paddock where we were parked by the barn.owner was immobilised due to accident..so friend Tommy was left to cope..which He did an excellent job..as so many of us.He was also in charge last year when visited as owner on holiday!Sadly we will not return.

Excellent site

Have stopped on this site many times, you can be assured of a warm welcome, each pitch has own electric and water supply excellent if you don't like filling aqua rolls, and you have the auto fill adaption, grass is kept to a good level, excellent chemical disposal point, plenty of space, some traffic noise, but you will find plenty to do in this area so will be glad of your bed on a night and sleep soundly, will continue to use this site regularly when visiting our friends in Liverpool, excellent value.

handy for train to Liverpool

Site easy to find just off motorway. Cut grass and tidy site.  Once we found way by bike to Maghull Train Station (no info provided), good train service to Liverpool - would have been a bit too far to walk.   Some noise from motorway.  Didn't find any pubs or shops close - but shops by station.  A convenient stop for visiting Liverpool city Price 2014 £12 inc elec.

Pleasant CL

Arrived late evening to the directions given by owner. Site as described by previous reviews so site as expected. Good flat grass site. 5 hook ups and 3 taps, as not to busy we had hook up to tap which was a bonus. Nice quiet site to relax after a day out and about. Had 3 night stay but will be back as didnt get to see all on agenda. A bit of road noise but didn't spoil our stay at all. Nice friendly owner.Sadly not many CL's have photos but Mr Gittins took the time to promote his CL. Thank You. Helped with our choice.

Good base

HappyWe enjoyed our recent tenday stay here very much. This is a nice flat site with a 10A supply and water to most pitches. The site is secured by a locked gate and each visitor is supplied with a key to gain access. Being close to the motorway M58  it can be noisy. It is a good centre for visiting Liverpool,as has already been said. It is possible to travel into Liverpool by train from Maghull Station where it is free to park or you can catch a bus from a stop about 20-25 minutes walk away. Other places to visit are of course, Southport (again by train), Formby point -to see the red squirrels- or other National Trust properties. The owner who is very pleasant has compiled a folder of ideas of things to do.  He is very easy to chatter to and willing to offer information and help if necessary.

Well worth a visit.

A grass site on the outskirts between Liverpool and Southport, both of which are well worth a visit. Liverpool especially has become a major international tourist city and has lots to offer from arts and culture to a buzzing night life. Very friendly welcome on arrival and owners happy to pass the time of day and offer help and advice as needed. Not the quietest site as is close to a fairly busy A road, but not a real problem as the road is well screened by fence and trees and safe for children and dogs. Highly recommended as a base for a stay in this interesting area.

A little gem on the outskirts of an interesting city

We have stayed on this site a number of times, and always found it clean and welcoming. The site is one of only 4 in the Merseyside area and offers good access to Liverpool, via train, with all its interesting places to see. Access to the site is very easy and is near the M58 which is on of the quieter motorways. I have always slept well on this site and the dog exercise area is a safe and enclosed one. We will be using this site many more times as we also use it to visit family in the area.
