Views Of Rolling Hills

What a lovely quiet peaceful site. Narrow roads leading up to the site, but worth it when you get there. Don't turn left into the village like the satnav says as it a dead end and there is a sigh saying that also, just carry one for about a minute more and your there. Lovely short circular dog walk from site past some cows and into a little church grave yard then back round to site, Lovely clean facilities ,the owner comes round on his tractor to collect the site fees. The ECU is quite far away but the farmer has left extensions out so not a issue. We only left the site just to go to the coop at Layburn 5 miles away other than that we sat outside our caravan and took in the views of the rolling hills. Perfect!!

Amazing views

This is a tidy , basic site with amazing views across rolling hills. There is lots to do in the locality within easy driving distance ranging from towns to ancient monuments to beautiful gardens. We were luck enough to be onsite alone for most of our stay , which was great , however if it had been full it would have felt a little crowded as a small site. Access is quite a way down quiet minor roads but OK, we had no issues. The only negative to prevent our return here was the welcome to site as we were made to feel an inconvenience , having misunderstood directions after a long journey , and there was no information on walks etc.. provided or communication from the owner throughout the stay. We had an enjoyable week , lucky with the weather and will definitely visit this area again soon .

Hidden gem

This was our first visit to a CL, in fact it was our first caravan outing. we have some knowledge of the area , but were delighted with this quiet site with it's beautiful views across the valley and views of Penn Hill. The site is gently sloping with woodland on one side and farmland on 3 sides. We had cows and calves in the adjacent field. You can walk across the fields to the Cover Bridge Inn, which had an excellent selection of real ales and reportedly good food, The walk is approx 2 miles/ 40 minutes. The site owners were welcoming and extended our 3 night stay to 4 nights. We will be back to enjoy the fishing and walking or perhaps just to absorb the wonderful tranquility here.

An excellent site for those who don't need pampering

PLEASE NOTE: the GPS location of this site in the 2017/18 Sites Directory Handbook is WRONG! The owner of the site when I phoned said "whatever you don't go into the village" and unfortunately this is exactly what the GPS code as printed in the book did!! The correct GPS code for the entrance to the site is 54.28211 / -1.73394 As for the site, it is an absolute gem with superb views over the unspoilt countryside. It is a perfect location for going to the local towns of Bedale, Leyburn, Masham etc. etc. as well as so many of the numerous locations that are there for you to visit, however there are no brochures or tourist notes at the site itself. For those of you who like quite exceptional ice cream, it is well worth going to the utterly amazing Brymor Ice Cream farm that can be found half way between Masham and Leyburn GPS code 54.25878 / -1.72805 There is excellent dog walking from the site which we used to the full during our 5 night stop. The only downside I have to mention about this otherwise exceptional site however is, that there were 2 outfits on site when we first arrived both of whom had dogs and both of whom thought it was perfectly acceptable to let there dogs run free at all times. I had to pick up their deposits of these dogs on several occasions before their owners understood that it wasn't acceptable!! We will definitely be returning to this beautiful site, if for no other reason than to walk to the amazing 'Cover Bridge' pub, some 40 mins. walk away, so that we can sample some of the truly excellent beers they serve as well as the great value belly swelling food!

Excellent Site

We have just had 3 lovely days and wished we could have stayed longer. We totally agree with other reviewers, the site is perfectly situated with excellent views ,ideal for walking and visiting the dales. Just because this site only has the basic facilities should not put people off, this cl is definitely worth visiting and we will be returning.

Great Getaway

Just returned from a couple of nights at Manor Farm and as we are new to visiting CL's didn't really know what to expect. What a great place to visit if you want to get away from it all, pease and quite in bucket fulls, fantastic views, great walks etc. We will certainly be retuning for more of the same.

Superb site

Lovely CL, well kept grass. Agree with other comments. I don't know why this site isn't full all the time as it is one of the best we have been to.  I can only imagine it is because of the lack of a photo or website that people can see. If we return to the area we will definitely use this site again. Good dog walking straight from the site. Really good pub about 2.5 miles walk.

A Hidden Gem With Open Views

We stayed here a few years ago and enjoyed our stay. Returning to this area Sept 2016, we decided to pay a re-visit. The site is all grass on a gentle slope (which is not mentioned but it was easy enough to level with blocks.) Electric is supplied from the top corner of the field, with extension reels supplied. Recycling onsiteby the bins and water and chem disposal close by. This is a very open site on all but one side, so it can be rather windy but the views across the valley are lovely. There is a footpath that runs by the site, to the little church and either back into the pretty village (gated at one end) or westwards towards Middleham. It is a very peaceful site and is close enough to such places as Middleham, Leyburn, Bedale etc.

What a Gem

Just returned from our first visit here. Will be returning for definite. Even our kids of 12 and 14 enjoyed it! The views from the cl field are stunning. There's also a field available to use. Plenty of walking and a good pub at Finghall serving good food, a 5 minute drive away.
