Disappointed 2019

I have visited this site for more than 20 years. sadly it is now not the very pleasant experience that it used to be. it is a beautiful location. it really is a pity that the wardens could not be more friendly.THE AMOUNT OF UNFRIENDLY RULES, are very off putting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you have to pay the same price as you do on the adjacent site, FULL payment in advance. (the site is 500 yards away), you can use the site facility's , but as i said they are 500 yards away. you also have to carry your rubbish at least 300 yards. when i was on the CL, MOST OF THE WEEK, i was the only unit on the field. in the not too distant past you could not get a place on the CL . BECAUSE IT WAS SO POPULAR. I THINK THAT SUPPORTS the way i now FEEL ABOUT THE SITE.

disgusted.

no waste disposal on the site and no bins. had to use adjacent caravan site which was very inconvenient. very expensive for no facilities. warden had a very unwelcoming manner. charged us extra as we were an hour late leaving and extra for 2 friends who popped by for coffee. he told us the site is no longer in the caravan and motor home club despite still displaying the sign. felt very unwelcome and will never ever stay there again.

Comment from the Club:

Further to your review the CL Owner has been in touch as they want to clear up any misunderstanding. We are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. Please be assured this CL Site is still on the Caravan and Motorhome Club’s CL Network. The service point is temporarily unavailable however signs point out there are alternative service points on the neighbouring site and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Their website also states showers, toilets, disabled bathroom, washing machine & drying area are all available on the neighbouring site for member’s convenience. We hope this helps clear up any confusion and thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

Marina Field

We loved the location of this pleasant riverside CL, although there was background noise from roads and rail there were more than enough distractions. There is an abundance of wildlife alongside the river and adjacent meadow. Don't miss the track to Godmanchester where you can see Port Holme meadow, England's largest natural meadow, sadly we just missed seeing it before it was mown. The CL is in a small corner of a well kept spacious leafy field with moorings a little further on, a secure spot, you need to pay and pre-book and follow the arrival instructions. Facilities can be used on the small adjoining site. Fishing is available, a good Mill pub just a stroll away on the banks of the Great Ouse and for me some Samuel Pepys history to follow. Hinchingbrooke Park is just over the road, an excellent park for all, lots of nice walks, I liked viewing the bee hives over there. The village can be reached on foot via some not very well sign posted footpaths or a short car journey, good Co-op and café etc and the C16th Black Bull pub next to the church, look out for the Pepys house in the field next door.

Stunning location on the riverside, although you can hear the trains and A14, it still does not distracts from the location. Excellent.

Peaceful Site

We were en-route for the North West from our home in Rural East Suffolk and did an overnight stop here both on the way out and on the way back. This is a lovely, peaceful, riverside site with 5 pitches in a large field. Our motorhome is not the smallest but there was absolutely no problem with access. Would we stay again...emphatically yes. In fact this is going to be a regular stop over for us on our journeying and if we were considering visiting the area for a few days this would be the natural choice.

Accessible, friendly and lovely site by river.

We stayed here years ago and recently returned to CC.  We had a lovely return welcome from June and a great stay.  Idyllic location: handy for pub and river.  Short walk/cycle to local garden centre for fab breakfast or, in other direction, into Huntingdon town centre. Wardens work hard to make this a welcoming and lovely site. We live nearby but so quick and easy to get away from it all here.

The best CL in the UK

We live just 33 miles away from this beautiful CL and stay here often. We and several of the regular campers often agree that we could drive 300 miles and find nothing as idyllic as Marina Fields, with the brook, weeping willows and fir trees, to say nothing of the wildlife, swans and cygnets, duck and ducklings, heron, coots and copious wild birds! The new management team, Ray and June have to work hard to overcome a negative impression given by one of their predecessors and work hard they do. Nothing is too much trouble and you will always be greeted by a cheery smile. Do go and see for yourself, but, don't tell your friends as we don't want it to be too busy!

First Class Local CL

Have now stayed both on the Marina CL and on its sister private Camping and Caravan Club site. Both are excellent. Very clean facilities. You need to add payment for use of C&CC site shower and toilet block. A freat welcome always her and the site is kept in first class condition at all times. Great walking country plus a short walk into Brampton, and you will find a small butchers shop that sells home made beef and ale pies!!! Yummy !!!
