Brilliant

This is a fab adult only CL, situated adjacent to the canal. It's a great place to explore the area from, on foot or by bike if you don't wish to move your vehicle once set up. We cycled to Bath and the canal path was quiet on a sunny August weekday, really easy to travel on. Pitstops are readily available en route. We'll be back to cycle the other direction to Devizes and Lacock Abbey which is also nearby. The site was blissfully quiet on our visit despite being full (5 units) and the facilities were clean. We appreciated the friendly welcome and helpful information.

Idyllic setting

If you want a peaceful break by the canal, come here. A small field right on the edge of the canal, and we could watch the boats going past from our pitch. It’s well kept, bins and water were right there. Emptying toilet and grey waste meant a 200m walk up to the other site, but that’s no real bother. The owner walks through the site every day, checking everyone’s happy. It’s a shame some people don’t think they need to keep their dogs on a lead, despite the owner asking. That’s not the owners fault though. We cycled both ways on the towpath, it’s a lovely peaceful stretch. Brilliant site for the price.

A lovely little gem

We also really enjoyed our stay on the CL. Where else will you find a site that sits, quite literally, on the bank of the canal? You can literally sit and watch the passing boats and if you enjoy nature, watch & listen to the birds. We were even lucky enough to see hot air balloons (one of which landed in the field behind us!) and the Red Arrows passed by us one morning too! We're an active, retired couple and it was perfect for access for cycling, walking and we even launched our kayak. We enjoyed endless sunshine (pitch nearest the private road and side onto the grassed area and you'll get the evening sun). It's a lovely cycle into the stunning town of Bradford-Upon-Avon. And a gentle kayak either direction is very safe - we chose to do so outside of busy times and the canal boats just meander gently by. This CL is slightly smaller than many we have stayed on but you are surrounded by beautiful countryside. The owner is exceptionally welcoming and eager to please - nothing too much trouble. It is a no-frills site but, we like that, it's authentic and the location that counts!

Brilliant

Well, contrary to some reviews on this CL, i found it to be perfect for what i was looking for..peace and quiet. I didn't mind the walk (100yrds) for the showers, which were adequate for a rural, working farm. Considering most people would choose this site for the towpath walks, i don't understand a short walk to the loos being an issue. There's 2 parts to this farm - the 1st area is serviced, and a lot closer to facilities, the other area is the CL, 5 pitches, park where you want, beside the canal - so it's 50/50 - if you want close to the loos, go there, if you're not worried about a really short walk, then i would choose the CL part. There's no hook up by the canal, but that's suited me as i have solar on the van. (even if i didn't have solar, i'd probably still choose that area) Julie, the owner was lovely, very approachable and already planning my next trip back there.

Lovely few days

we disagree with a previous review, yes there are 2 defined areas & yes the toilet & shower room is shared however individual lockable doors made it very secure & the facilities were pleasurable to use & were also spotlessly clean at all times.  The 5 fully serviced pitches had beautiful outlook over the paddock with the addition of a picnic table, flower tub & bird feeders. The CL area is right next to the canal so another lovely outlook. The site is in an excellent location, right on the canal & we walked into Trowbridge one day & cycled to Bradford Upon Avon another day. Lots of lovely places to visit.  The owners are very friendly & informative & we can't wait to visit again.

Not all that it seems!!

We have just stayed on this caravan site. I have noted that it seems to have attracted some very good reviews. However I feel that a few things need to be said regarding this CL. In fact the CL area seems very nice and this has water but no electric. The advertised toilets etc are some 120 yards away . There is an area (for 5 vans), which is separate from the CL that has hard-standings etc. and these are advertised as fully serviced. This area seems nice but has some specific drawbacks. It is just to the rear of a set of industrial units with associated traffic. You access the CL and the other area through the industrial units. The site offers WC etc. However what was not apparent or proffered by the owner is that the toilets and shower (1 off) are in a unisex room which is also used by workers from the industrial unit. Although not filthy I would hesitate to say they were spotless. I do not recall them being cleaned the weekend we stayed. You need to be aware that If a female is using the shower there seems no way to keep the area private. Put simply a man and woman can be in the same room at the same time which many could find unacceptable. Now on to more. We elected to book the non CL area as we prefer electric where possible. Just behind this area were a number of caravans looking to be stored. In fact most were occupied by workers. In fact one van was on a fully serviced pitch when we arrived but was moved on the Saturday morning to the "store" area where it was put back into occupancy. So it seems that this CL is not all it seems. It promises a lot but simply does not deliver. I would not reccomend this CL.

Peaceful long weekend stay

Just had 3 nights stay on the serviced site at Marsh Farm. 5 level hardstanding pitches with EHU, own tap and greywater drain. There's industrial units behind this section of the site, (no noise when we stayed) but nice views over paddocks towards the canal, which is a couple of hundred yards away, where the basic CL section is situated. Easy access to the towpath for walking and cycling. The toilets/shower are housed in part of one of the industrial units, 2 gents and ladies cubicles and 1 large shower room, all spotlessly clean. Highly recommended, would certainly stay again. Thank you Julie.

Perfect CL for off-road cycling

We chose this CL for its close proximity to the canal tow path and the chance for flat and traffic-free cycling. There were serviced pitches but for just one night we stayed on the more basic CL without electric hook-up and this was good value for £10. Area was quiet, clean and well maintained, but without hook-up posts it was more difficulty to know where to park to allow other visitors a fair share of the available space. No owners on site the weekend we were there, which also felt a bit unusual, but other campers were helpful and friendly. Cycled to the Old Bear Inn in Staverton for a very good supper and a warm welcome. Nice to observe the boats and see walkers/cyclists making use of the tow path, though this inevitably made the Cl feel rather more open to the public than many we have stayed at. An enjoyable stay and would recommend this CL

one of the best

The owner is very user friendly and has good knowledge of the area.  The place is clean and very tidy.  Good views of the boats on the Kennet and Avon canal.  Plenty of walks and buses to various locations. The site is a CL and also has serviced pitches, not CL's. £15 per night.  Watch the horses or rabbits or both. Must be worth another visit.
