Again late in writing this review as we stayed at end of July for a week, but felt compelled to put fingers to keyboard as gobsmacked no reviews since 2021 for this very pleasant site. From the last review, the comments are fair, and cannot disagree. Hence the score of '4' in Overall and Peace categories. It is disappointing there is no pavement or alternative footpath down to the village of Walkington, which is a lovely village with good amenities, but that is not the CL. It isn't the nicest of roads to walk along but we did several times, and have done worse. If you have access to a car or are the type to venture out in your mohome (we are too lazy to unhitch) this is an excellent positioned CL, the wonderful town of Beverley with all it's attractions & charms is 10 min drive, York will be 40 mins drive, Hull a bit less. In light of this we were surprised to see so few reviews/visits to this CL. The views, from one side of the site, across the meadows were delightful and quite far reaching over the edges of the Yorkshire Wolds. Mr Urquhart, the owner, was a dear jolly chap who was about when needed, and looked after us well. As did the rescue chickens who were great fun! If you are the type that appreciates simple no fuss CLs, we think it does have a lot going for it, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and will go back.
Good location for touring.
Stayed a week here in August to be close to family members on holiday in the area. Good vfm, nicely kept pitches. Water tap slow and a longish walk to the CDP. Noted that there are only four EHUs, on the one night when there were 5 units on, the owner ran a long lead from a barn, which may have caused voltage drop.
The only concern we had was the traffic passing the site, which at times proved quite noisy, also not great sight lines when driving off. It would not be very pleasant walking into the village as there is no sidewalk and the grass verge is overgrown, so we had to park in the village to get the bus into Beverley.
Lovely Farmland views
This is a pretty site located a short distance from a village with pubs and a duck pond. It has grass pitches with hook up located by mature trees on wide grass either side an access track (only used by those on site)- so drive in/out with no need for reversing. Although we did need levelling ramps. There are lovely far reaching views across farmland. We enjoyed watching a hare hopping around the field next to us and chickens pecking around. There is quite a busy road close by so there is some traffic noise but it means there is easy access to the local area. Beverley is close by with its Minster and a visit to the area wouldn't be complete without a walk on the spacious Beverley Westwood which had lots of places to park and is a great space for kids to let off steam or just have a stroll around enjoying the view.
Last minute find
We decided last minute to get away for Easter weekend and unexpectedly got here (our first choice)! We're very local so it was only about a 20 minute drive, to feel you're away from it all. Site is a little strange in set up as you essentially pitch either side of a track. I found it to be a very enjoyable weekend There are lovely views across the fields and friendly chickens to entertain. Walks from the site. The only downside is noise from the road and the very long walk to the waste disposal. But that wouldn't prevent us returning.
