Recent visit
We visited earlier this month and found the site very peaceful. The toilet block was spotless, and in the current situation we have been told that other sites have closed their toilets, so it was very welcome that it was open. There was plenty of sanitiser and notices explaining what to do. The owners were very helpful and even fixed our puncture for us. The setting is lovely and we saw many red kites above a nearby field. We would definitely recommend a visit here.
Weekend getaway
We have been using mollance farm for some years now it is local to us and great for a weekend escape to unwind. Sheena and Derek are very welcoming along with their family, dogs are also friendly and keep us entertained. Facilities are spot on and really enjoy our time we spend here.

Good base for exploring the area
Had a few nights at Mollance Farm CL, near Castle Douglas. It’s a good base for exploring the area, we had no problem filling our days out.
It’s a smaller CL in terms of space for pitches, it’s near the working farm and overlooks a small lake and pasture fields. Nice spot for wildlife spotting, including red kites, buzzards and hares. There are 2 showers and loos in a log cabin, they were fine, clean, warm and plenty of hot water. The pitches are a bit small and close but are all hard standing and level. There is fresh water to top up with although the pressure is very low so it takes ages to fill. No drive over waste for MH. The black waste disposal is an old butlers sink over the sewer, not great as the plug hole is small, an Elsen point cover works much better.
All said the £14 per night is very reasonable price including hook up.
The only downside for us was the owners 3 dogs roaming free, which would possibly disturb a reactive dog tied up on your pitch, plus they went to the loo wherever they fancied so there was dog poo around the green areas, which isn’t very nice and they enjoyed a regular swim in the lake. The dogs were friendly but did bark whenever someone arrived at the farm. Our dog was fine and I do like dogs but I know they’re not for everyone.
Best CL site
We booked this CL site for one night at short notice and found it to be one of the best we have stayed in on our 4 month tour of the UK. Really pretty views, lovely for an evening walk around the farm, flat hard standing and the bonus of a clean and well equipped shower and toilet block of 2. Couldn’t fault this place and we highly recommend.
Very good indeed
We stayed here for 4 nights over Easter weekend and could not fault the site - friendly welcome, lovely location and excellent facilities. Would definitely recommend and we hope to return !
A Little Gem
Excellent spot for a stopover and springboard to west coast. Facilities amongst the best we’ve come across. Superb welcome but follow the written instructions in the Sites book.My brand new Caravan & Motorhome Club Sat Nav took me up the farm track not the beautifully manicured drive ! We will be back.
Pleasant stay
We stayed here for 5 nights. The caravans are quite close together on the hedge side of the site. We could hear the neighbours dogs running up and down in their caravan in the early mornings! The views are lovely of the lake and it’s peacefully away from the road. The tarmac area became rather muddy whilst we had rain. The log cabin shower block was immaculate and the warden kept it very clean. It was also heated which was a bonus. The site is very close to Castle Douglas and the neighbouring National Trust properties. There was some road noise during the day of tractors driving along regularly on the small track at the back of us. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Lovely site
Enjoyed our 4 nights at this site in June.
Good hardstanding pitches , immaculate toilet/shower block and lovely surroundings including the lake and swan . Some farm machinery noise (to be expected) but on the whole peaceful and quiet Friendly welcome from the owners , who were about but not intrusive .
Easy access to A75 to get around sight seeing in the area.
Would certainly stop here again if we are back in Scotland
