Gem of a site

Oh my, what a beautiful site. Easy access, with mainly flat, and all hard pitches with stunning views out to sea and Whitby. As other reviewers have stated there is a walk directly from the site into Whitby, its quite a strenuous walk, both down to Whitby and the long haul back up. It took us about an hour but if you can only do one way it is worth doing, the views from the Cinder Track over the viaduct is stunning, walk it at least once, it's worth it. The next day we cycled into Whitby, cycle into Ruswarp and then pick up the Cinder Track cycle path into Whitby. Beacon Farm is practically next door, don't miss trying some of their ice cream and there is a lovely little tea parlour, which sadly we didn't have time to try but it looked delicious when we called in for our tubs of ice cream to pop in the motorhome freezer. Ruswarp has a train station where I believe you can get the train to Pickering or various stops along the way, all on the North Yorkshire Moors picturesque railway. Row boats are also available to hire in Ruswarp. Had a very nice meal at the pub literally just a short stroll along from the camp site. There are no showers or toilets on this site but that is not an issue for us and cannot wait to return to this site, an ideal location for so many places and attractions in the area but if like us you're in a motorhome and don't tend to move about once on site the location of this CL means there is so much to see and do close at hand.
