Unkempt

This site looks like someone has had big plans at one time but given up. Everywhere you look it’s scruffy unkempt and unfinished sorry but you expect better nowerdays days.

Fully Serviced CL

We have just stayed at this site for 7 days as we were visiting the Open at St Andrews. There is a bus stop at the gate which takes you to Leven (west) and St Andrews (east). We were welcomed by Duncan who took us to our pitch. We were pleased we were on the CL part of the site which has wonderful views across the Firth of Forth. The pitch was hardstanding and fully serviced. There was access to a toilet and the other campsite facilities, but we didn't use them. Recommend visiting Falkland Palace and the Hill of Tarvit when you are in the area. If you are a golfer it is especially well located.

What a view 😊

We have just had the pleasure of staying at this lovely site for 4 nights and what a pleasure it was. The CL is separate from the rest of the camp site and has the best views. All the pitches are hard standing with your own electric water and grey waste disposal the CL has its own toilet we was given a key on arrival as it’s exclusive use for CL members and was very clean. A lovely gentleman took us to our pitch on arrival and we met the owners later that day when we paid who were both very friendly. There is also a restaurant on site which is open Friday & Saturday 10am until 4pm which has fabulous views across the water and a lovely outdoor decking area where you can enjoy cooked meals or tea coffee and delicious cakes. On Saturday evening they provide take away meals. Can’t wait to return thank you so much for a great stay.

Not exactly as described, but still good

We stayed here a little while back and thought that it was good value at £12. There is however a mistake in the description as there is no WC. Also, in the Club handbook it is stated to have serviced pitches.......there are no serviced pitches. There is one hardstanding, which was already occupied, but the grass was firm as there had not been much rain. Water is from a tap nearby, where there is also recycling and rubbish disposal, toilet emptying is a little further away, there is no designated grey water emptying point, we were asked to distribute it around the edges and in the rough ground behind the pitches, which was fine. There is a main road fairly close, but it was not very busy and the noise was not intrusive when our windows were closed. There is apparently a plan to relocate the site a bit further down the slope, further away from the road, which would also make it less exposed. The views are excellent but it was very windy! The rally field was in use for part of the time we were there, views were restricted at that time, so moving the CL would also solve that problem. Access is good with a wide gate and the welcome was warm. We did not try the restaurant. Plenty to do in the area, we visited St Andrews and several of the coastal villages, went to the fisheries museum in Anstruther, and had excellent fish and chips in the nearby award winning restaurant, which also sells delicious ice cream.

A Topper

Everything about here is good. The food in the on site eatery is very good and reasonably priced. Nothing bad to say about it.

Grand Site.

A fine, easily accessed, level site with fantastic views over the Firth of Forth. Although the commercial site is close by both sites have their owns entrances off the access road. The site is within walking distance of the Fife Coastal Path and there is a bus stop in the village for buses to St.Andrews and the Fife coastal villages. Their is a fine restaurant on site and another in the village that does good value meals. Although the site is situated between two roads there is little traffic disturbance. The CL is positioned behind a rally field so on occasions I might imagine that it would be busy at times. Perhaps it would be prudent to enquire when booking if you are worried about being there when a rally is on. Will definitely use this site again.

Beautiful site but.......

A beautiful site, well maintained, wonderful views, warm welcome. Restaurant and all facilities were excellent, everyone most helpful. However since other reviews were written the CL has moved and is no longer the other side of the house from the commercial site but is now on the same side, fairly close to commercial site and is just behind a rally field, separated only by a few yards of grass. The night before I left the rally field was full and the site very busy. Whilst this was not really a problem I choose CLs because of the maximum of 5 vans and I really did not feel I was on a CL when staying here.

Terrific views

Terrific views across the Firth of Forth from this well maintained lawned site. Levelling blocks needed. Good centre for walks along the coast, pretty coastal villages, city of St Andrews, and Scotland's Nuclear Underground Bunker, RAF Leuchars Air Festival in early Sept. On the other side of the main House is a good small commercial site (Same owner) at £15 p/n with grass and hardstanding and new toilet & laundry block. You can book good value lunches at the popular restaurant in the House.

Friendly Fife.

I had no problem finding this site and would recommend it to anyone who wants a nice quiet time away. The minor roads around the surrounding area are also a joy to cycle although the main coastal road is best avoided due to the volume of traffic on it. The toilet and other facilities were all well maintained and spotless. The duty warden was friendly and helpful both on my arrival and during my stay.

Fantastic caravan site

This was our first visit to monturpie, on arrival the welcome was warm and friendly. Due to our work commitments we had both our cars on site, this did not pose any problem and no additional charge was made for the second car unlike sites we have been to in the past. The site is very very well looked after and the toilets and shower facility's are first class. Enjoyed our stay so much we booked our next visit before we left. Many thanks to all at monturpie.
