Perfect, but probably just this once

The previous review all make mention of the excellent pitches and facilities at this site, and it's true. The pitches are deep enough for the longest combination and wide enough to fit your caravan and awning on the hardstanding. They include Water, drainage, Electric points and your very own Dustbin and Recycling bin. In addition, and a new one for me, was your very own Elsan, accessed by lifting the grid to empty straight into the sewer with a hoselock and pipe to attach to the water point for swilling. The pitches are also very well spaced apart and look out onto a tranquil bucolic view with sheep and heifers in the enclosure in front. It's an adults only site and no dogs allowed, which will appeal to some and not to others. The site is set back from the road slightly and access is good and well marked. The road is not that busy especially at night. It also far enough away from the main Exeter to Sidmouth road as to make road noise almost non existent. We stayed for a week and travelled no more than 8 miles in any direction to reach those places we wished to visit. So, why the proviso? There are a couple of small minuses. One which wouldn't stop us coming back but the other would. The first is the hardness of the pitch to hammer awning pegs in. We ended up with several bent ones. But now that we know about it, it wouldn't be a problem. Another slight problem might occur for long Motorhomes as turning into a pitch without encroaching on the grass could be difficult. The main sticking point is price. We paid £20 per night for a site which didn't have either a Toilet and/or a Shower. This is beyond what we would normally pay or wish to pay for such facilities. I knew the amount before i went and have no problem with it this time as it was over Easter and provided me with the best possible place to be on an adults only site at a time of school holidays. Nothing against children just against the damage I have suffered to my caravan and car in the past by their actions. One small point to make is that next to the site are 3 letting detached houses of a modern design. Lovely to look at and the CL is accessed by passing by these houses. However these lets do allow children but it seems that the owner (a very engaging person) probably asks them not to encroach on the CL as none did over the Easter period. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and pushed the boat out price wise but, having just left a very similar set up which did provide a WC and Shower but cost £15 per night, feel we wouldn't again. Nothing to prevent giving it 5* though.
