So quiet but great facilities

It was a pleasure to visit this site. Friendly people, lots of home made goodies sold for charity. Peaceful, wonderful views and access to a great beach. Lots to do in the area.

Disappointed

Having read the reviews we booked this site for 2 nights in September. Had we been on the original part of the CL it would have been ok, however, we were in an adjoining area where there were 2 extra pitches on hardstanding and with water and electric to both pitches. The hardstanding was made of recycled tarmac and nature was beginning to take over with grass growing through. The two pitches were close together and I would doubt there was room for an awning, as there was a path either side of the two pitches. Behind us was a small paddock, and on our second day we were surprised to see a 'motorhome' parked behind us! There was a low fence between us but the motorhome was little more than 1 metre away. I use the term motorhome loosely as it was just a small converted van. On our second night there were 8 units on the site. We have used CLs for many years all over the UK and have always enjoyed our experiences.

What a gem !

Arrived along the single track lane wondering where we would end up. What a surprise to be only yards from the banks of Solway Firth. Level hardstandings with own water and views to die for. Very clean and tidy. Has a shower and toilet which we were not expecting. Has shop with odds and ends and honesty box. Next door holiday park has great restaurant/cafe by easy access along the beach. Local museum called 'Devils Porridge' well worth visiting - its not what you think. Great CL all round.

A PERFECT STOPOVER ON OUR SCOTTISH TOUR

I couldn’t have picked a more perfect CL to stop at in the area. We had a very warm welcome and the site was absolutely spotless with stunning views. It was sunny and I hadn’t realised how close we were to the beach (an unusual beach and a long walk to the waters edge but lovely to have it all so close). The site accepts dogs but they must be kept on a lead. There is a beautifully mown grass area that you look out on and the sea is in the distance. It was so quiet and peaceful. Just one toilet and shower but that was fine. I wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend it. Thank you,

Glossie

Moss Side Farm Annan

Approached via a single track road this working farm is easy to find and access the CL ‘parking areas’, we arrived late on the 6th may and stayed for two nights. So first of all, would we stay again? Absolutely, this is a quiet spot and very tranquil, the firth is a matter of a hundred yds or so away with views across to Cumbria, good facilities in terms of EHU and water but couldn't find the waste water drain, which didn't matter for a two day stay. We visited Gretna Gateway for an hour or two which gets rid of the retail therapy urge and supports the local economy. As we are still in the pandemic restrictions we couldnt buy anything from the farm itself which was a shame but hey ho! Be aware local roads are single track and as can be expected can be tight when meeting tractors/wagons on the way out (or in) In summary, lovely site, and will be back!

Never changes.

Our 2nd time at the great little site. Sadly no jam this time. We arrived about an hour before a storm set in and a very rocky night followed. Took the chance to go to the outlet shops at Gretna Green and discovered the Cadbury outlet. Be warned, its cheaper to buy from the supermarkets! Not much else to add to whats already been written by others. The couple who manage the site are fantastic and a font of knowledge. We extended our stay after Boris announced the current lockdown and will be back again.

Friendly CL at Annan

We had a 2 night stopover at this CL. All 5 pitches are on hardstanding. There were 5 vans including ourselves and 3 of them had awnings up so there should be no problem there. Pitches might be too close for some people but as we were in the end pitch and not putting an awning up we could stretch so didn't pose a problem to us. Something to bear in mind though. All pitches back on to one of the steel barn walls and face south looking out across the Solway firth to the Northern Lake District in the distance. Elsan and waste water goes down the same plug hole. there is a water tap on each pitch. Shower and toilets normally open bu this is Covid time so can't comment. I understand that there is also a washing machine for rent. Dog walkers have the sands of the Solway to walk on at low tide. The N7 cycle route passes in front of the CL. The main problem might be access as the road in doesn't have any passing places and does have the odd pot hole to contend with. On the plus side is the lack of traffic that uses the road. Annan is 4 miles away with an Aldi and Tesco and an array of small shops. The A75 that runs west to east across Dumfries and Galloway can be accessed nearby. We'd stop again for an en route stopover. Very pleasant owners who have a small shop for baked goods and chutneys etc. with proceeds going to NHS.

Little gem of a site with lovely views

Stayed one night on our way to mull of Galloway and again on our way home. What a lovely little site. We were greeted on arrival, and the home made chilli jam we purchased in the site shop, was delicious.....we will be back. Phil and Betty

little bit of heaven very peaceful.

Just booked again been twice . all hard standing . shower and toilet very. lending books games and local info. views of the Solway & lake district. Walk along the beach which is only 50 meters away . rode my mountain bike on the sands for 3 miles in total tranquillity. Annan ok for food shopping. Annan distillery is very interesting but not cheap. it is worth a visit though. Little museum to the first penny bank is cute . Calaverock castle and RSPB. well worth visiting also. loads of quiet roads to cycle or walk. ( Not suitable for bathing paddling is ok but beware of the tide it can be fast.)

Quiet & peaceful

This a very quiet, peaceful and really lovely working farm cl and surrounding area. The owners were very helpful and happy to help with where to walk and explore. The beach is literally bout 100yds down the lane and there’s miles of walking (when the tide is out) I do think that the facilities were a bit tired and could do with a re-vamp, but as we have our own this wasn’t too much of an issue, and the jam &chutneys for sale in the information room more than made up for it !!
