Great for visiting Ripon, Ripon Races or Newby Hall

I stayed 5 nights at this quiet CL in the village of Copt Hewick. It was an ideal base for me to get to Newby Hall, where I was setting up for a week long geocaching event. The site is quite small, but there is plenty of room between the grass pitches. It is lovely and quiet, with no road noise. The site is sheltered from the weather by surrounding trees, which are popular with the local owls. I lay in bed one night and could see a young owl on a branch above my caravan skylight, waiting for its’ mother to feed it! The owners keep hens in a large run, I loved going and seeing the ‘girls’ on an evening, they’re very friendly. The site is level, all pitches have EHU and there is drinking water and elsan point close by. Quite a basic, no frills site, if you are looking for manicured grass and panoramic vistas this isn’t it, but perfect as a base to go sight seeing in the local area. Ripon is just a 10 minute drive away, as is Newby Hall and Ripon Races. Only saw the owner on the day I was leaving as I spent most of my time off site, but very friendly chap. Highly recommend the nearby Black A Moor pub, which is just a 5 minute drive, or 15 min walk from the site, excellent food, dog friendly. I will most definatley stay at this CL again.
