Old Bridge End, Durham...disappointing!!

Although it does state in the site notes that it is sloping the photos don't indicate how steeply the site slopes. It may be fine in dry weather but following heavy rain it would be very difficult to come off without tearing up the grass surface. Even the hardstanding pitches require large blocks to level the vans, and they are rather narrow too. Without the assistance of a fellow caravanner we would have had extreme difficulty in getting our van level. As it was we had to utilise a 6" concrete block under one side. There are good views from the site and it is relatively easy to access being less than 1 ml off the A 691 Durham/Consett road. There is a Park and Ride about 3 miles away towards Durham with free parking, and I think no height barrier, and there are M/H parking spots, and those with concessionary passes can use them on the bus. The nearest supermarkets are a Lidl and a Sainsbury's, with fuel pumps at Pity Me, off the A167 about 5 mls from the site. The lane past the site is quite during the evening and night although there is some traffic from early morning. There are a couple of lanes close to the site suitable for walking ones dog and numerous disused railway track not far away good for both walking and cycling. Not up to the usual standard of CLs that we are used to, and would not return.
