convenient site

We stayed here over Easter 2022 in order to walk the south-west coast path (Newquay to Falmouth section). A very convenient location for this. Very close to good supermarkets in Redruth, Pool and Camborne. Easy access off A30. The site is a short walk along a footpath around fields to Tehidy country park with its woodland walks, lakes and abundant bird life. From there you can get onto the coast path at North Cliffs. We were the first visitors to the site for two years (covid). The farmer was waiting for us as we pulled up the drive! He was very welcoming and gave us all the info on the site and the walk to Tehidy. Then left us alone to get on with our holiday in peace. I had to search for him to pay him! The field slopes very slightly, and we pitched up alongside the top fence. There is EHU. The grass was rather long - bring wellies. The farmer's son was having a house built outside the field at the far end where you enter, but this didn't disturb us. There is a slight hum from A30, but you don't really notice it unless wind in the wrong direction. When it's windy you hear the wind turbine, but we will all have to get used to this - small price to pay for renewable energy. There is washbasin and toilet in a small outhouse attached to the farmhouse. Again, we were first ones on in two years so all clean. Yes, the toilet is the chemiloo waste point as well. When another outfit came on site in the second week, I made sure I cleaned the loo thoroughly before use. Probably wouldn't use it (except for emptying chemi loo) if site full. The builders were using it, although advertised as exclusive use. Provide your own loo roll, soap and toilet cleaner. The site was advertised as £10/night but due to recent energy hikes, the farmer had to increase price to £15. All in all a good site in convenient location. It did the job.

Central location, peaceful site

This site is in a very good location, only about a mile from the A30 (which produces a slight hum if the wind is coming from the right direction) and a further mile to Redruth with a good selection of shops. We were there during harvest time, which may explain why we didn't see the owners much in person (mainly smiles from the distance), I was lucky enough to see them out when we were going out to give them our fees; but they have been very pleasant throughout. The elsan point is an outside toilet which is fine, I wouldn't use it for its primarily purpose given its secondary one! The site is away from the road so there is little traffic noise at all, however leaving the site is not great as it is on the outside of a large bend which reduces visibility; fortunately that road is not overly busy so usually there was nothing coming. There is a slight slope to the site, but didn't stop us going sideways to the fencing and putting our awning on the side. Grass was on the longer side, but given the time of year, they probably have better things to get on with. I did chuckle as all caravans were diligently separating out our recycling into the different boxes, only for a note to be added that they can only recycle glass, shame on you Cornwall Council. There are limited recycling facilities in the supermarkets, and a recycling site near Redruth Tesco for you to do your bit. Overall a lovely site that we would be happy to return to, only real downside was the British weather!

Lovely site

The site is lovely and peaceful and the owners, once you're settled in leave you to enjoy the peace and quiet.  Our dogs were able to run free in the owner's adjoining field, and there is a pathway, kept mown by the owner, to a permissive path leading into Tehidy Country Park, in which there are lovely walks, and if you feel energetic, you can make a lovely circular walk through the park and on to the  coastline and Portreath.  Being just a mile from the A30, access to the site is easy, even with a large caravan.

Well worth the price

Owners are friendly and leave you alone to enjoy your holiday.  Field is slightly sloping with well spaced electric points across the top, grass is quite rough and long but after a few days you tend to flatten it around your space anyway. Plenty of space for kids to play down near the trees. There is a toilet down near the house which doubles as the elsan point!  The real bonus of this site is the ability to walk from the site round the fields and into Tehidy Park - no going near the road so safe for kids on bikes or walking the dog with various walks around Tehidy.  Plenty to do in local area. There is some noise from the A30 depending on wind direction, but not too noisy, and the sheep tend to drown it out anyway!

Nice Peaceful Site

This is a lovely peaceful site, the owners are working farmers however they are friendly and helpful but do not bother you. There is a nice walk for the dogs around their field. Tehidy Park is great and the site is close to a little sandy beach inlet. Will be going again soon.
