Ease of arrival/welcome

Loads of room.

We got a very warm welcome from Keith the CL site owner. The grass had been freshly cut when we arrived and the site is well looked after. There is plenty of room to set up so you’re not on top of each other, and more than ample 16amp electric posts to keep everyone happy. A small lake which looks like a quiet pleasant place to sit and watch the fish swim by is now out of bounds, a party of people staying on the site decided to trash the lake and throw rocks at the fish. These stupid people have ruined it for the rest of us that would have enjoyed the serenity of the lake. A small one and two carriage train branch line runs beside the site but did not disturb us at all. If you turn left out of the site and over the small railway bridge there is a public footpath which leads beside a couple of fields and then in one direction through a wooded area which is maintained by Essex County Council. Where the path passes over muddy areas they have put wooden walkways so wellies or walking boots not always necessary unless the weather is really wet then the fields will be a bit mucky. The other direction takes you over the train line. The land owner (not the CL owner) although a nice enough bloke, does not always keep his dogs under control. The dogs are friendly but try to make themselves at home in your awning and snuffle your dog’s food if you’re not careful. There was one minor incident whilst we were there. The water to the toilet stopped working, which meant that we had to fetch a bucket of water from the drinking water tap (thank goodness this was still working) to flush the toilet. To be fair to Keith the CL owner he had gone away for the Bank Holiday weekend so could not do anything about it. I can only assume it was something minor but we had left before he returned so did not know the outcome or the reason. Apart from the little hiccough with the water I would recommend this site to anyone. On the whole a most enjoyable break on a pleasant site
