Lovely site but access roads a challenge

The site was lovely , nothing provided but the basics but that's fine and what we expected. Very peaceful with lovely views and plenty of space between vans. We were only there a couple of nights for a nearby 'dark sky' experience so didn't spend much time in the locality but I'm sure that there was loads to see and do if you had a longer stay. Our only issue was the last few miles of the journey . Whilst we expected the last part of the journey to be on a single track road we weren't anticipating the challenge of the road from Ambleside which was very busy and narrow and took us over 40 minutes to cover the three or so miles . Took a lot of concentration , and held in breath as we squeezed between vehicles and the lovely slate walls. We are not usually fainthearted about difficult access to sites but were up and packed to leave at 8am on the Sunday morning to avoid the traffic and this was much better . If you are planning the journey I'd look carefully at the time you were travelling this last stretch to keep your stress levels low!
