Mixed Feelings!

We stayed for 3 nights over a busy Easter Weekend. In our view we had mixed feeling about this site. I will break them down to the good and the not so great. Good: The site itself is down a small lane and is on a large field with several different levels in which to pitch. It is a basic site with water and chemical waste and pitches a good distance from one another. The surrounding area is beautiful and the site is within walking distance of 2 pubs. Negative: As mentioned before the approach to the site is tight. Not only the small lane but for a few miles before you get to the site the roads are smaller. Absolutely navigable just a bit more stressful when towing, the small lane the site is on, is very small! If you are not confident towing, we wouldn't recommend it. The only reason we have discounted the peace and tranquility was due to a farm house down the road that left a dog out that barked several hours each evening. They also rode a quad bike past the site many times a day. We booked months in advance with the owner insisting on a deposit which we don't mind and understand CL owners wanting this. We were booking with friends and it seemed all she was concerned about was the deposit! We did send it quickly after booking. Upon arriving at the site it was clear that there were more than 5 vans on site, as it was a big site we weren't too worried. We pitched up and enjoyed the surroundings. The next day, a car was outside the gate for some time, we didn't know why, but then they came in and started pitching a tent. Several of us on site questioned this and it seems the owners took pity on people that didn't have a place to stay. We all felt uncomfortable about this as there were no services on site and as they called from outside the gate (the phone number was displayed on the gate) we can only assume they were not members of the club. On that night there were 9 different vans and tents. To sum up, we love the area, the site is beautiful and probably fine not at a busy time. The site now charges £15 a night and an additional £3 for a child over age 11.We have stayed at other CL's in equally beautiful areas with electric and for less money. Although we enjoyed our stay, we would look for an alternative site next time.
