Great CL

This CL is a great find just off the M1 with stunning views across the valley. The owner is very welcoming, friendly and helpfull. The site is beautifully kept. There is a small charge for electricity. WiFi is free. We will certainly use it again.

A gem of a site

Although this was only 35 minutes from our home, we explored an area of Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire unfamiliar to us and what a treat! The site has views across to East Midlands Airport but is completely open with an abundance of wild life. We saw hares, and a small herd of deer galloped to within 30 metres of our van. It is next to a working arable farm and a farriers so there were comings and goings of horses immediately behind us but nothing to cause disturbance. The walks from the site are numerous. We walked through the fields to the pub at Stanton le Dale, looking through gaps in the hedge to discover a vista of Nottingham the first evening; walked for coffee at the Cow Shed and then on to Dale Abbey which is a lovely little village on the Saturday and on Sunday we drove to Ockbrook (but it is walking distance) where there is another deli/coffee shop, an interesting Moravian Settlement and plenty of walks from there. In fact there are footpaths everywhere. The owner is most welcoming, keeps his site immaculate and we can't recommend it enough.

Great location, very welcoming

This was my first ever CL experience and couldn't fault it in any way. The views are amazing and it is generally a very tranquil spot although the Download Festival at nearby Donington Park was in full swing when I arrived! I had a mishap with the tow hitch electrical socket on the car as I was leaving, and I thought I'd have to leave my outfit there for several days until I could get the car fixed, and was resigned to a lengthy round trip to collect into the bargain, but the site owner rang round on my behalf and found a local repair shop who got me fixed that afternoon and I was home before dark. Amazing. Thank you so much!

A Very Special CL

We spent three nights here in February. The views from the site can only be described as stunning, including at night time. There are some really nice circular walks from the site with pubs and a cafe a short distance away. Lots of wildlife in the surrounding fields and woodland. You will need levellers or blocks as the site is not flat but Mr Fogg, the owner, is very helpful with advice and practical assistance. It is well worth the effort. Easy access to both Nottingham and Derby. The M1 is not far away but not intrusive. Hopefully will be back sometime.

Excellent location and relaxed stay.

We stayed at this site for three nights during September 2022 but very nearly made the biggest mistake of our motor homing experiences so far. We booked a few days before we arrived but had read a few previous reviews which suggested the pitches were not marked. When we arrived it looked initially as if there were no spaces so we decided to move on, As we were leaving the farm yard the owner approached and spoke to us. Having explained our concern regarding the pitches he encouraged us to have another look and showed us an area we could pitch. How glad we were. What a fabulous location with countryside views to die for. We have two dogs and the owner said we could walk where every we wanted to, bearing mind the horses. There were public footpaths with access from the pitches across beautiful fields. We sat and watched horses, deer and birds of prey. All the facilities were suitable, either in the field along the wall or, as in the case of toilet disposal outside the stables in the adjacent yard. The owner was very friendly and helpful and we would stay again.

Amazing, highly recommend đź‘Ť

This CL Is nothing short of being fantastic. It has generous Pitches (levellers are required) Elsan, Water & Bins. You must use your own onboard facilties. Access is good and it's near J25 of the M1. The Views are absolutely spectacular. Walking paths are immediately from the site (many of them with no road walking.) 3 Pubs within easy distance on foot (if you have no mobility issues) or many more if you have a car. The Cow Shed (cafe) is literally 10 minutes walk. All pubs and the Cow Shed do excellent food. We spent evenings just sitting outside our MH watching the Hares, Horses & Deer. The owners of Park Farm are superb, friendly, accommodating, relaxed and helpful. I honestly cannot fault this CL. We have been to many sites over the years and this is definitely one of our best sites ever. I think you can already guess, we will be back and we highly recommend it 🌝

A Good Basic CL

Stayed for 2 nights, found the field and set up, the owner phoned to check that we were OK and to tell us we could pitch anywhere in the field. The site is sloping but we found a flat spot by the wall, this suited us fine. Views from the site are amazing and it is a peaceful site. The field is spacious and well kept. Water is easy to find, there is a sign near the water tap giving contact details for the owner and details of where the chemical emptying point is plus the wi-fi code. Having wi-fi is a bonus, especially for a CL. Cannot fault this site, loved the peace and quiet and will happily stay here again if we are in the area.

Views to die for!

Beautiful setting, so picturesque and stunning views as far as the eye could see. Owners were away, so it got a bit confusing on arrival. Still, once sited, we gasped at the beauty of the views in front of us. Unfortunately, the dogs at the farm were very chopsy and didn't stop barking until it got dark. We have noisy dogs ourselves, but not quite as vocal as theirs! Overall, loved our night there and would definitely return.

A forever favourite

We have been using this CL since 1994 when our daughter started at Nottingham University and have visited off and on ever since. Over the years the only change affecting caravanners has been the sad departure of Adrian's Dad, Dennis to the great CL in the sky. He was such a lovely man. Adrian and Rebecca are very busy and it may prove difficult to locate them but don’t worry, they’ll show up eventually. You have to bear in mind that the CL is only a small part of a much bigger farming and equestrian business. They don’t mind where you pitch, within reason, so just go for it. As the photos show, the site is sloping and you will need levelling blocks, but the viewer are to die for. The walking opportunities from site are innumerable, make sure you have the OS map. An easy walk into Dale Abbey brings you to the Carpenters Arms or into Stanton by Dale to the Chequers and the Stanhope Arms. Didn’t try the Cowshed but it looks good.

Great stop-over

We used this fantastic site as a break on the journey to North Yorkshire and what a great place. Fantastic views, good dog walking with the footpaths linking to other places of interest ie.the alpaca farm. The owner made us really welcome and we wished that we had more time to enjoy this great site. We will return and stay longer next time.
