Good location but not what we expected
Just spent two nights at Patterdale Hall CL site.
The positives: Really easy to find, very friendly helpful estate staff, great walks from the site, short walk to pubs, cafes, shops and pier for boat trips around the lake.
The negatives: Site right by the road, not able to relax on the site during the day due to road noise.
The site sounds like it is on the edge Ullswater, but actually it's a walk across a road, through the estate holiday cottage area, and then through a couple of fields. It wasn't very nice to sit down by the lake here either as the area is basically a field full of sheep and their droppings. (I am a farmer so quite used to this environment, but I felt even with sheep grazing here this area could be made more family friendly and attractive).
We made the most of our time here, but we were pleased to leave after 2 days.
Would I go back to this site, probably not. Would I go back to Glenrididng / Patterdale, absolutely.
