What a gem of a site

This site is probably the best kept site with the friendliest owners we’ve ever stayed at. From the moment we arrived, they could not do enough for us. The toilet was spotless. The shower was lovely and hot and had no buttons to keep pressing to keep it on. The views are stunning with the site being at the top of a valley. It is such a peaceful and relaxing location. The directions from Nicola were easy to follow and took us straight there in our twin axle caravan. In Llanfair there is a fuel station, village shop and a couple of pubs. It is only 20 minutes to Welshpool with a choice of large supermarkets. On site there’s a fab information hut with walk suggestions and loads of places to visit. We particularly enjoyed the Dyfnant Forest, Aberdovey beach and Mach Loop. If you love birds, we saw red kites, blue tits, great tits and heard a tawny owl. There are apparently 100 varieties to spot there. John and Nicola also have THE most gorgeous, well behaved border collie who adores cuddles and always has a smiley face when he greets you. If you’re looking for a very peaceful site with a great base to explore this area, I would highly recommend Pencraig.

What’s Not To Like

This is an absolutely fantastic CL, looked after and cared for by John and Nicola. The access road is single track for around 500 metres but once on site all that is forgotten. Stunning views, peace and tranquility, red kites flying overhead and well laid out and manicured grass pitches. John has ensured that there is the required gap between units and this ensures plenty of space to sit out and relax. There is a separate toilet and shower both of which are kept spotlessly clean. An information room includes guides and suggestions for the surrounding area as well as books and DVDs to borrow. Llanfair Caereinion is just over 2 miles away with its steam railway and model car museum. There are no real walks from the site which is a shame but plenty to go off site and see. Lake Vyrnwy is 1/2 hour away and the Mach Loop and coastal towns of Barmouth and Tywyn take just over an hour in the car. I really can’t rate this CL highly enough.

Peace and quite with beautiful views

This site has to be one of the best C.L. in the club. The pictures don't do justice to the wonderful views or to the the peace and quite. The field is gently sloping with a relatively flat strip where the caravans are sited. There is plenty of room for the caravan/motor home, an awning and a car at each pitch. The road to the site is very good and has passing places if needed. It is only about half a mile long and no traffic that we saw.. The site owners are extremely helpful and friendly. The toilet and shower are cleaned every day, with toilet rolls, clean hand towel and paper towels provided. We will be back!!

Pencraig, fantastic site

This is our third time staying at this site. First time with lovely new owners Nicola and John. Facilities include toilet, shower, info room and the normal ehu and disposal facility. Black waste is via an above ground bulk container. This is now very full and there can be a certain amount of ‘slash back’, not very nice and a potential health hazard. Unfortunately we didn’t see Nicola before we left or I would have mentioned it. Llanfair is a couple of miles away and has a petrol station, a spar shop, a couple of pubs and a fish and chip shop. There are loads of POI to keep one entertained

A very pleasant surprise

Pencraig CL is in an elevated position giving all five pitches great views over the Welsh hills. A unisex toilet and separate shower are spotlessly clean and an information hut is well stocked with leaflets and a "library" of assorted books. Paths have been mown in adjacent fields to make it easy for dog walkers to enjoy the fabulous views. The site is 3 miles from Llanfair Caereinion where shops, a couple of dog friendly pubs serving food and the main station on the Welshpool and Llanfair light railway can be found. New owners John and Nicola are friendly anfd helpful, making this quiet and well kept CL worth a return visit for a longer stay.

A great site

A gem of a site. Fabulous views overlooking valley and beyond. Excellent very clean WC and shower. Friendly and helpful Robert & Nicola. The surrounding areas have great places to visit but no local walks due to public footpaths not maintained or used. The lanes are quite and peaceful as an alternative.

Wonderfully peaceful with lovely views

Nicola and John have only recently taken over this site and they thoroughly deserve for their new venture to succeed. The CL is in a wonderful location surrounded by peaceful countryside with lovely views. The CL is immaculate from the closely mowed lawn to the upgraded toilet, shower and information cabin. Nicola and John live on site so are available to answer any questions and they keep everything neat and tidy. If you are looking for a CL in the Welsh countryside close enough to a number of attractions, Powis Castle in particular is worth a visit, we have no hesitation in recommending this site. The pitches are well marked and well spaced and are mainly level so it is very easy to set up your outfit. TV signal is good if you face the aerial down the valley and turn it vertically. Phone coverage is good. With prices increasing everywhere, £18 for 2 people and van with EHU is good value especially as the shower is free (with plenty of hot water) and the WC is kept spotless.
