quiet site

We spent a week at this site which was flat and spacious. The electric mains point was restricted to one area of a large field but even then the caravans had plenty of space. The field was short grass which had been collected. The views over the fields was pleasant. The only fault we found was the very slow water tap, we put the aquaroll under the tap and left it for about 5min before it was full. For the price of £12 it was very good value. We found plenty to do in the area with National Trust properties and gardens and walks.and the coast. Would certainly stay again if in the area.

Pleasant Stay

This was a pleasant site for a short stay. There is a historic water maill no longer in use hence the name Pitrennie Mill. The dog walk did exist but was not ideal for our Springer Spaniel to stretch her legs as the walk was very limited. Apparently there is better dog walking in the forest about a mile away but we didn't go there. There were lovely views across open farmland to hills in the distance and we were fortunate enough to spot 2 Roe Deer leaping across the field in front of us as we were setting up. The camping area does have some hard standing near a building and the facilities but otherwise is all grass which was firm but would have benefitted from being mown.

Great site

This is a beautiful site set in wonderful scenery. The site is in an ideal place for visiting from Arbroath to Aberdeen, especially along the the east coast scenic route. Great views from the site across open fields in the east and hills in the west. The only reason it did not get a full 5 stars was the hookup points are not situated in the best place and the water pressure is very low (you could make a cup of tea while the aqua roll fills up). All this said I would be very happy to have a return visit.

Fabulous.

We were delighted with this CL. We stayed for 5 nights. When we arrived we had the pick of the field taken a central position in full sun. The straw harvest was in full flow with a combine harvester visible in the distance. Very quiet site with all the usual facilities plus information room with extension electric cable. The scenery around is stunning and we were happy to sit in the sun on site at times. The cycle on the back road into Stonehaven is pretty and the route is to be used by the Tour of Britain bike race in September. The race will come past the CL's driveway! Dunnottar castle is a must see as well, Golf courses at Montrose, Edzell and Stonehaven are easily reached. The viewpoint of Cairn O'Mount is close by. It was a real haven for us and we would highly recommend this CL.

Absolute bargain and beautiful site

This is a lovely site with lots of space so you’re not too close to your neighbour. One of the reviews complained about 3 mobile coverage but I’ve got 3 bars and good internet. Very good value and there is an honesty box with a card to write your name and membership number. We visited a few National Trust of Scotland properties and visited Stonehaven and Aberdeen.

A simple site for a relaxed stay

We have just spent 9 nights on this quiet site. We only live just over an hour away but needed a holiday close to home for family reasons. There are 6 hook ups but 3 are close together, there is an extension in the shed if needed. We had a quiet week with mixed weather. You have to remember you are on a farm so you have to allow for farm machinery occasionally and cows. This was our 3rd time here and would go again but not this year now. Arbroath is worth a visit with lovely chips in the harbour and Stonehaven is also nice. You can get to Banchory within 20 mins if you go through Auchenblae. If you are wanting to visit Aberdeenshire I would recommend the site. Its only £10 with electric.

Don't mis this 'hidden gem'!

We have just spent five nights at this wonderfully peaceful site set in the heart of the Howe o’ the Mearns. Access to the site has been improved and it is very easy to drive right into the large area of well-tended grass. Choosing a specific location to pitch your caravan is limited only by the length of your hook-up cable – and extensions are available in the Information Hut. We were made very welcome by David, the site owner, and thoroughly enjoyed our visit to an area that we had never really explored properly previously. Highlights included the coastal walk from Inverbervie to Johnshaven (using the local bus service one way) with lunch at the Harbour bar in Gourdon; a visit to the House of Dun policies and the adjacent bird hides overlooking the Montrose Basin; exploring the St Cyrus Nature Reserve with its stunning wild flowers; walking in the area near Fasque Castle with its network of tracks and paths; and learning more about my favourite author, Lewis Grassic Gibbon, at the Arbuthnott LGG Centre. No doubt due to extended recent Covid closures, replenishment of the leaflets in the Information Hut has been neglected, but as long as you have a mobile phone to access tourist information – or have done your homework beforehand – this is a great site from which to explore a very quiet and interesting part of rural Aberdeenshire.

A nice quiet CL

We have just come back from two days at this CL, fortunately the weather was lovely. The site is grass with plenty of room for five Van's. There is an extension in the information shed that could be used as the ehu is grouped into a two and a three. There was four Van's including us and it was very quiet. We went into Lawrencekirk on the Saturday and there are a small amount of nice shops plus at the time there was an indoor farmers market. The cafe called Gannets is worth visiting and the hardware shop is very well stocked. The owner to the site who is a very busy farmer came to us on the Saturday afternoon but there is an honesty box in the information shed. We only live an hour away and we feel this will be our go to site. I would certainly recommend it. We had good Tele signal and 4g coverage. There are quite a few places to visit in the area. The site entrance was a bit tight if you are going in to the left but ok the other way

Excellent Aberdeenshire CL

Just stayed for one night to fit and adjust a new awning, I live 15 mins away. Passed this site many times but never stopped. Very peaceful, large and well laid out. Ground is well maintained and has a tidy bin and water area. The CDP is fine, quite quirky, and, despite other folks experiences, didn't smell when I was there. Small dog walk on site, but a 5 min drive is the massive Finella Forest or Drumtochty Glen, both great for dog walking. Used the honesty box in the information shed, but the owner did call in the morning as I was packing up. I will definitely visit again.

Very good value for money

Had 7 nights here on flat level large pitches - the only criteria was your length of electric cable. No one to meet us and no pitching instructions. Owner never seen but day before we left the son came to cut/collect grass and he said they were too busy on the farm to attend - just put what you owe in the box in the info shed. It was quiet secluded and dark at night. Tv good , no mobile signal (Three) Great value if very basic. Would probably go again if in area.
