Peaceful stay!

We stayed for two nights in July 2023. Good communication with John the farmer. Paid in advance by bank transfer. £15 pn to include EHU and putting up a tent. Ideal spot from which we attended a family event at Wells Golf Club. We were the only van on site. The grass was nicely mown and the field tidy. Hardly any traffic on the adjacent road. We had a very peaceful stay and would recommend the site.

Lovely site, perfect for visiting local attractions and an amazing position.

We stayed only for a single night this Easter, in order to provide a base to visit Wookey Hole with our 3 boys. The minute they were out of the car the benefit of a CL site was obvious as they had plenty of space to run around and enjoy themselves without hindering the other visitors. John popped by in the early evening to take payment and was very friendly. Surrounding area is beautiful and well worth a wander down to the farm along the quiet country lanes. Would highly recommend and will be back at some point! Also worth noting there was an issue with the electric supply on one of the pitches, but once the owner was aware there was an electrician there within the hour and it was all sorted.

Lovely Stay

We stayed two nights on this delightful site, having booked quite last minute. Initially I couldn't get through on the phone but Mr. Jones called me back almost straight away. Everyone already on the site was very friendly Mr. Jones, the farmer, and his wife were incredibly helpful. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We managed the lanes to access the site with no problem and the site was fairly flat We coped in the intense heat which the country was experiencing at that time. The pathways are very accessible and we took a very early morning walk into Wells. Everything was very easy and, yes, we would stay again.

This was a great site. Well located for Wells. Yes there was an inconvenience for drinking water for a small time, but it it brought all temporary residents together with friendly chat. Loads of space, easy foot paths bridalways all the way to Wells and Crosscombe. What a lovely site owner with lovely manor who would do anything for you. An enjoyable stay. Thanks, is what a CL is all about.

Peaceful and Relaxing area on the Mendips

This CL site certainly gives you a peaceful, and relaxing stay situated within the Mendip Hills with stunning countryside views along with wildlife and local farming communities. Perfect for walkers or cyclists, and local to visiting Glastonbury, Wells, or Cheddar. On our first stay we met the owner (the happy, helpful farmer), who briefly explained the facilities and where the honesty box was situated. Easy access to the site with one hardstanding. The grass on site seemed to have been cut regularly and some trees from the nearby wooded area had been trimmed back. All in all its a fab site which we return to regularly and will continue to do so in the future!

You get what you pay for

I have said before that if a CL is going to open during the winter months, the ground conditions must be up to the job, and this site certainly isn't. The entrance track barely extends beyond the entrance gate, and the single small hardstanding had already been taken by a camper-van who seemed to be a permanent resident. This meant the site was like a ploughed field with huge tyre tracks and ruts making the place look extremely untidy, not to mention dangerous when topping up the water and emptying the waste. The owner gave me a wave from the lane as he was passing on his tractor, otherwise nobody came to say hello. The water is supplied by an electric pump, which failed one morning, and otherwise was extremely slow. There is no mobile or internet signal on our network O2 so we felt totally cut-off, and we did find the extremely narrow lanes and high hedges surrounding the site extremely claustrophobic. When I phoned to book, the owner said he operated an honesty box for payment, which we did, but I have no idea to this day whether he actually received it. All in all not an enjoyable stay and we would not visit again.

Good value

This is a no frills place but has all you need if you don’t need shower and toilet Wells is a lovely place and cheddar gorge and Glastonbury are not far to visit the last half mile goes past a dairy farm and the cows use it twice daily so be prepared for a dirty car and caravan this is a nice peaceful place and we would visit again if in the area

Little Gem

Great little CL with everything you need for a peaceful stay. We have a 7.3mtr motorhome and spend most of our days walking the local areas wherever we stay, There are an abundance of footpaths & bridleways to choose from and sadly we were not here long enough to explore all of them. Some gorgeous Somerset villages on the doorstep along with the Mendip Way - just lovely ! We will be back !

Peaceful and well located for areas of interest

We spent 6 nights here this July and had a very relaxing holiday. Narrow roads on last couple of miles to approach but followed instructions in the book and no problem and no traffic met. Lovely and peaceful. Wells is great to visit - we cycled from site, easier going than the return up hill but manageable. Also nearby is Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury Tor, Shepperton Mallet a quiet sleepy town and of course Wells which is just lovely to wander around. At £10/night with electricity it is a bargain. Definitely worth a break there.
