A little disappointing

Just stayed at Poplar Farm for 2 weeks. First impressions were of a compact, well-maintained site with nice riverside walks and plenty of wildlife. However, on the first night, as the site is on the corner of a T junction, we became aware of heavy traffic noise from the other side of the hedge, starting at 6.00 a.m. (Lorries from a local quarry and tractors travelling to and from the local farm.) Also, as it was a warm night and we had the windows open, this made the noise more noticeable. Another point is that the site could do with a "dogs on lead" ruling as we had to watch dogs from neighbouring vans running loose, even trying to come into our awning and disturbing our well behaved German Shepherd. (Not the fault of the site owners but there seems to be an increasing number of caravanners who don't watch their dogs. Our previous outing with the van, the next van had 5 small dogs running loose!) Finally, in 30+ years of caravanning, I've never been 'hustled off' a pitch by the owner sat waiting on his mower, to cut the grass, when we were 10 mins. late vacating the pitch, after the 'check out' time.

I am very sorry that you found your stay a little disappointing but I am not surprised.  You complained to me at every opportunity about things that were completely out of my control.
Your 'well behaved dog' growled and snarled at me every time I went anywhere near it.  We do have a dogs on leads rule but we cannot constantly monitor this.
You certainly weren't hustled off your pitch, you were 25 minutes late leaving.  We are very busy at this time of year and need to mow pitches in between stays.  Your pitch was left in a very poor state due to your refusal to lift your groundsheet!

Thank you so much for you reply to our review.

I don't think we actually complained about anything, never mind at every opportunity.

We did politely ask, the day after our arrival, if we could move pitches, due to the road noise. We also thanked you for this. We moved to pitch 5, as 1 and 2 were reserved, probably because your regulars know these are the quietist.

We were extremely unhappy at your comment that our 'well behaved dog ' growled and snarled at you everytime you went near her. This is utter rubbish,  you came and stroked her in the car, and said what a beautiful dog. She never growles and snarles at anyone. You are making out that she was a dangerous dog. She was always under control and only had a little bark when you watered your garden. We only saw you twice in 13 days.

As for dogs not on a lead, you were both present when caravanners were throwing a ball for off lead dogs across the caravsn site.

We left 20 minutes late due to taking our dog for a walk and were a little late back
