Travelling North

Nice CL, very tidy hardstanding pitches, good location for a stopover. Mike and Sam were very friendly, as were the chickens :). Mike was very knowledgeable on the area and points of interest. The entrance height barrier was not an issue for us as we made prior arrangements with Mike for an early departure on our final day.

Expensive and extra for ehu.

We took the last available pitch .Height barrier welcomes you ,,but all in all nothing special for a very expensive site.

Lovely site

Lovely site, easy to find. Lots to do and see in the area, preferred the coast north rather than south. The site was well looked after and facilities. We had an allowance of electric, 10 units per day. This was not a problem but as more sites apparently are doing this maybe it should be mentioned with in the fees structure.

Another great visit

I have used this CL about three times now and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Mike and Sam are very welcoming and they have a lovely well kept CL with hardstandings for your caravan and car. The grass is kept immaculate and regularly cut. Each pitch is well spaced from the neighbouring pitch and the views to the west over farmland are amazing, The facilities are well maintained and clean, and each pitch has its own metered EHU. You get about 10 units per day to use which is included in pitch price, and anything over is charged at cost which is very fair. I wasn’t over my allowance when I left, but would happily pay for what extra I had used. All in all, a great CL and I’ll be back again soon.

A Warm Welcome and a lovely stay!

Access is very easy, hard standing pitches for the car and caravan/motorhome, with well mown/drained grass for the awning with plenty of space between pitches. Lovely outlook onto open fields. Access to a WC but no showers. (as stated in site details) Mike is a very friendly owner who has time for all of his guests, he has plenty of knowledge of the surrounding area & ideas of where to visit, he even provided a map. Lovely free range chickens wandering around the site. The weather was lovely while we were there. Northumberland has so much to see, we stayed for 5 nights, we visited Walkington, Cragside, Holy Island (check tides!) Bamburgh, Druridge Country Park & Druridge Bay which has miles of beautiful beach to walk your dog! There is a woodland path quite near the site which takes you towards The Plough Inn in the nearby village, (approx 1.5 miles - 40 minutes stroll with a sniffy Beagle), we didn’t eat there but the food looked good & there’s a nice beer garden. We’ll certainly be back for another visit soon! Well recommended!

Love spot in beautiful countryside

We spent 3 days here last weekend and it was a very relaxing place to stay. The toilet was very clean. The owners were lovely and Mike couldn’t have been more helpful when we developed a problem first with our caravan and then with our car. We’d definitely go again.

Peace and quiet in lovely surroundings

We were here for five nights just after the site opened post the strict Covid lockdown. Primarily to spend some time near to our daughter, we were pleasantly surprised by the natural beauty of the area around the site and the far reaching views across farmland from our pitch. Immaculately presented, the site and facilities were spotlessly clean with good supplies of hand wash and wipes which we found reassuring. Kind and caring owners as others have found along with the very friendly hens. Access around the site to nearby areas including Newcastle and Tynemouth are easy as the road network is excellent. We cycled into nearby Newbiggin from the site one day and while you are on busy main roads much of the way, it still felt safe enough for adults but I wouldn't do it with children. Morpeth was a real gem, only visited because it was so close and we'd never been before, we will certainly return. Very tempting to stay much longer, a relaxing and rejuvenating break in a great setting, we will hopefully be back.

Will return & return & return

Very friendly welcome on arrival from owners Mike & Sam who proudly maintain this immaculate site (one of the best in Northumberland). Extremely easy access to site from very tow-friendly roads Excellent and safe exercise area for our energetic dog and Mike kindly printed-out a map of local dog walks close to the site for us to explore. Lovely spacious, level hard-standing pitches with good amenities on site. Excellent location for exploring Northumberland's beautiful offerings - beaches, walks, castles and scenery etc. Ian, Rachel & (Peggy the dog)

Excellent three night stay.

We recently spent three nights in our motorhome at this lovely CL with our two springer spaniels. Communication prior to arrival was great and the directions to the site were spot on. On arrival we topped up with water which is easily accessed whilst still on the roadway and then parked up on our hardstanding. The views across the fields are lovely and there is an amazing, huge exercise area adjacent for the all important morning and last thing at night dog exercise. Mike gave us some leaflets and spent time explaining about local walks. A recent reviewer said this CL is not great for dogs as you need to walk along the road. I couldn't disagree more! Yes, you have to walk a short distance up the road but it's a very quiet road and the verges are very wide to enable you to get out of the way of the odd vehicle if you need to. After that there is a brilliant 'round robin' walk most of which can be done off lead. We also walked from the site, across the fields to a fabulous beach and then had a meal at the local (dog friendly) pub on the way back. This is a very good CL for dogs! 4G and TV signals were both excellent. We met Mike, his lovely wife Sam and their delightful son who were all extremely friendly and helpful.

Experience will always overcome stupidity

Having read the reviews for Potland Farm Cottage I was a little unsure after reading the one star review. Then I read the following reviews and we booked for a three night stay. Glad we did. Access is easy, Sam and Mike are a wonderful couple ( love how Sam is described as Mike's daughter by one reviewer) and had all the time in the world for their visitors as well as having full time jobs. The site is mainly hardstandings with plenty of room between pitches. Lots to do in the area, small railway in the colliery park, towns to explore and a good selection of walks. Shower still in hand but Mike will get there one day. Excellent site unless you are a newbie motorhome driver
