A delightfully peaceful farm site

We booked Powblack Farm CL as a stopover on our journey home to Invernessshire from Garlieston CL in Galloway. It is a beautiful gem situated on the banks of the upper reaches of the River Forth. Here the river has more the appearance of a trout stream in southern England than a typical Scottish river. The views from the site are over a mixed farmland scene to the impressive Campsie Fells to the south. In an easterly direction the Wallace Monument can just be made in Stirling. We approached the site from M9 Junction 10 at Stirling. If approaching from the North (Trossachs or Perth) we recommend taking the A873 to Thornhill and B822 to the junction with the B8031 to reach the site. The B8031 is very narrow, winding and rough approaching the site from the A873. The short stretch from the B822 junction is good. The site directions from A811 on the club site are good. If you like quiet peaceful sites with a very rural setting this will not disappoint. There are local attractions within walking and cycling distance and the site is very central for access to various tourist locations in Stirling, Falkirk etc. The photos on site page do not do the site justice but do give a flavour of the rural nature. The views South from the site over pastures to the Campsie Fells is a delight.
