Good location

Spent 2 nights at this site. It was extremely clean and tidy. Easy access with spacious pitches . The 5 units of electric included per day was plenty. Very handy location for our visit to York . Nearby park and ride highly recommend as parking can be a bit pricey. Fantastic Thai just up the road !

Pleasant stay on lovely cl

We had a lovely six night stay at Primrose Bank. Friendly owners who run adjoining garden and nursery. While tea room and garden only open Friday we were welcome to go round the garden and greenhouses at any time to view (andbuy) from the fantastic array of plants. Field is beautifully maintained with huge pitches. We had some lovely cycles and went to the races. York easily accessible as is outlet centre.

Peaceful

Had a lovely peaceful weekend here in August 22. We were in our MH and two friends came to stay with us. Only two caravans there. Large level field with lots of space to each pitch. Very relaxing and didn’t feel under pressure to leave at the time specified. Maybe that was because no one else was booked on our pitch after us. Was lovely not to be rushed off the site. Sue was very helpful when I messaged her and asked her questions. Will definitely go back, especially as Elvington airfield is so close.

Lovely, well maintained CL, Excellent for York.

We spent 7 peaceful nights at this site in July. The site was immaculate and our hosts Sue & Terry were very pleasant. Great access for York & surrounding villages. There is a lovely 7 mile circular walk from Kexby along the River Derwent to Stamford Bridge and back. The gardens and nursery, whilst not open every day, are a delight to wander around. Thanks to Sue & Terry.

Lovely site, well maintained and peaceful stay. Great location.

Our stay at Primrose Bank was just what we needed. Easy to find, great communication with Sue and Terry who gave clear and simple instructions on arrival. We were welcomed in and directed to a lovely flat pitch, the site is very well looked after. Great location, Park and Ride to York was very close to site. Lovely pub within a few miles to eat, also very welcoming. Visit to Malton food festival was great and within a short car drive. All in all a very quite, peaceful and welcoming site in a beautiful part of Yorkshire. Thank you, we will most definitely return soon. Mr and Mrs Smith

Like camping next to a building site...

Building noise from the land opposite went on till nearly 10 at night - a JCB digging plus continuous vehicle reversing noises. Happened two days running - we almost packed up and left early. Thankfully it didn't continue on our final two days. The owner knew this was going on - we brought it up when we left but she seemed unwilling to try and do anything about it e.g. report as a noise nuisance to local council. The field itself is well-maintained but has an enormous pylon in one corner. We weren't offered access to the gardens or nursery as mentioned in other reviews. They were closed throughout our visit. Site is convenient for visiting York, Castle Howard etc but we would try and find a more peaceful location if we come to this area again. Found the list of rules that were emailed and the fact that electricity use is restricted to 10 units a day a little off-putting (although we used only a fraction of that amount during our stay, it's not something you really want to have to be thinking about. Also the departure time - other CLs we've stayed on have been much more relaxed about this. They clearly wanted us out by 11 on the dot and were literally mowing the grass around us.

Comment from the CL Owner

I’m sorry you were unhappy with so many elements of your visit and have hopefully addressed them below.
The one off work across the road was on an adjoining farm at their fishing ponds and at their busy time of year was unfortunate to run into the evening and coincide with this visitors arrival. Although our house is near the CL we knew nothing about it until informed when the guests were leaving.

One off farm work in daylight doesn’t justify reporting to the council as a noise nuisance. The pylon is not on our property and the Garden and Nursery opening times are well publicised, and the Nursery was open on the last two days of the visit. We always offer late leaving when possible but we weren’t asked on this occasion and as we were full for the bank holiday we needed to cut the grass before their arrival, but this wasn’t around the occupied pitches. Electric allowance is clearly stated on the Club website so was not a surprise on arrival.

Lovely CL

Lovely CL just outside York, flat, lawned and immaculately kept. We were quite fortunate to have it to ourselves. Very convenient for the park and ride into York itself, lots of places to visit close by. Will definitely be back at some point.

Great site

We’ve just returned from a relaxing 3 night stay at this lovely site in our motor home. Sue and Terry were very welcoming. Access from the A1079 is very easy. The site is immaculate. The pitches are very generous and are pretty level. The electric allowance included in the site fee was more than adequate for us. It is an excellent base for exploring the area. There is so much to do in the area. We really enjoyed cycling along the beautiful, quiet little lanes. If visiting in a motorhome, please be aware that it is not possible to access the grey waste water disposal point in your van - a wastemaster or similar is needed. This would not put us off returning. Thanks Terry and Sue for a lovely stay.

Lovely weekend

Lovely relaxing weekend. Found Sue to be very friendly and she gave us free access to garden and nursery even though they were closed. Site itself was secluded and level with mowed lawn. The herb garden near to the water tap shows the level of attention payed to this site. Will definitely stay again
