Fantastic Stay at Wells

We have recently returned from a weeks tour of the Mendips, and were lucky enough to pick Primrose as one of the stops for 2 nights. stunning views over Wells and Glastonbury Tor. On the advice of the really helpful owner Nina we walked down into Wells for an afternoon coffee and explore and the next day used the nearby cycling network which avoids the main roads to cycle into Glastonbury and climb the Tor. Site is exceptionally clean, secure and mostly level 5 star for a CL Paul and Sue

Superb Site - Superb Views

Stayed here last Summer, only ones on site. Dual aspect views, one side to Glastonbury away in the distance and the small City of Wells nearer on the other side. Site is immaculate and a credit to the Owners. Even the waste facilities were immaculate. Great stopover if like us you are going to Cornwall. But, it's better than a stopover, it's a destination in itself. Plenty going on in the delightful Wells. The Cathedral is outstanding. Plenty of National Trust properties a short drive away. We will certainly be returning to this one. PS If you overshoot down the lane driving from Wells, there's quite a large concrete turning area a few hundred yards down the lane.

We had a wonderful one night stay to attend a choral concert in Wells Cathedral school, it was a good taster for future visits. Wells Cathedral and the Bishop's Palace are places that can provide interest over many visits, appealing to various audiences from grandparents to grandchildren. The range of independent shops, historic sites, cafes and pubs are sure to meet everyone's needs. We booked the Rustling Tree pitch which has unrestricted views South to Glastonbury Tor and the Somerset levels, our view North over Wells and the Mendip escarpment was just stunning in the early dawn after a wet night. The site is lovingly cared for, being scrupulously clean and well drained ensuring good grip for manoeuvring vehicles and no muddy patches - everything a touring visitor could wish for. We didn't attempt the walk into Wells by footpath as it would have been dark for our return, but for day visits in the spring and summer its a great alternative to packing up the camper and finding parking in the city, although £3 for all day parking in Palace Fields is exceptional value just a short walk form the Bishop's Palace. Nina is a great hostess, providing a welcome second to none and a free guide to what is available locally.

Super CL

Big mistake – to only have one night here! You know you’ve arrived at a well run CL as soon as you drive into an immaculate yard and especially when the owner gives you a very warm welcome and two lovely wedges of cake! We chose this CL to be near the wonderful city of Wells as a stop off on our way home from the South West. The views of the Mendip range and Cathedral are splendid and only a short cycle ride into Wells. Many thanks for a super stay, Martin & Gilly

Beautiful location and great hosts

We loved our peaceful relaxing weekend stay so much we returned the following weekend! Nina the owner is incredibly welcoming as all the reviews describe - she helped us with advice on places to eat and as a result we enjoyed a lovely meal at the cosy family run Da Luciano in Wells. You can walk to Wells in less than 40 mins, which after crossing a field is via a decent hardcore farm track. Wells is a lovely city, plenty of independent shops, cafes and pubs along with the Cathedral and Bishops Palace (CAMC discount is BOGOF). For sight seeing inspiration we watched the film Hot Fuzz (filmed in Wells) the night we arrived as it was a bit wet outside. The site is incredibly secure with electric gate access via key fob (£10 returnable deposit on arrival). It's extremely well maintained, immaculately presented with purpose built waste/recycling point, toilet and grey water disposal point and separate fresh water. Nearest PHEV electric vehicle fast charging point was 5 mins drive at nearby Morrisons supermarket, part of Geniepoint network. Would not hesitate to recommend - book via the Primrose Caravan Park website and you can even select your pitch ahead of arriving. All of them are just perfect for a welcoming quiet relaxing stay.

Great Site with friendly welcome.

This is a great site located on a ridge overlooking Wells in one direction and Glastonbury Tor in the other direction. We stayed for 2 nights on our way home from Cornwall. The site is peaceful, we were one of three units on site and there is plenty of space. Nina the owner is great and provided us with a slice of her delicious lemon cake for the journey home. The site is very well maintained with a very clean area for bins, water and waste. I overestimated my driving ability on entry and just touched the rear nearside corner of my van on the gate sensor. Take care of the double turn on entry and have someone get out and check the clearance. We will definitely be back.

Thanks again Nina......

This was our second visit to this little gem this year and the start of our 2019 West Country tour. Nina greeted us on arrival as warmly as at Easter and showed us to our pitch. This time we’d booked a pitch directly overlooking Wells Cathedral and the farmland between the site and Wells. We were one of 2 units on site when we arrived but within a day had this immaculate site to ourselves. Again we visited Street and the Clarke’s retail park and ‘saved money’ while spending it… Oh well, you can’t take it with you.. Walked into Wells from the site using the map Nina provides all her guests although found the route a little overgrown in one place. Nothing to do with the site or our host but nonetheless Nina made note of the issue for referral to the associated land owner. Hopefully this has been resolved. Wells and the surrounding area was beautiful at Easter during our earlier stay and again in early summer. We took in a walk from Wookey Hole and back to the pub in Wookey for a well earned drink or 2. The walk was taken from the information books and leaflets Nina provided on the area. If you’re into bird watching then I recommend Avalon Marshes just the other side of Glastonbury but be sure to pack your bug spray. So thanks Nina for the warm welcome and local insight for our walks. We will of course be back for more cake! Tim and Sue Greaves.

Glastonbury Festival

We usually stay on site at the festival but could not get in this year, so we booked at Primrose. It was brilliant from start to finish! The site is superbly kept with a welcome to match. All the facilities we needed. A beautiful spot overlooking the Glastonbury Festival site and the Tor, and on the other side, a view of Wells. Difficult to beat that! Access to the festival is easy. No queues, no waiting. And after an exhausting day at the festival to return to this tranquil site was just brilliant. We will not stay at the festival again, we will come back here. Thank you NIna!

Amazing views from all angles, well maintained site.

We had four nights at this site recently , weather was unfortunately very wet but this did not affect the warm welcome we got from Nina . The views from the site were amazing and thank goodness the site is quick to drain so remained easy to access, the site is gently sloping but you can position your caravan how you want which helped. Very well maintained with close cut grass, very easy access to water, waste , rubbish, disposal etc .Electric gate for security , returnable deposit required for fob, access is easy but needs care. On arrival Nina met us ,welcomed us and gave us all info we needed and best of all bought us two big slices of lemon cake still warm from the oven , delicious and very welcome. Both Nina and her husband were very friendly but never intrusive but if asked very informative. Thank you for a very pleasant stay in a lovely area with plenty to see and do. Can highly recommend Yeovil Fleet Air Arm Museum.

Fantastic weekend

This is a great CL site. We had a warm welcome from Nina's daughter, later Nina surprised us with beautiful chocolate cake, many thanks. The site is on a hill, the views either to Wells or Glastonbury Tor are wonderful. We were given a map to walk into Wells, takes approx. 30 minutes. For cyclists there is a route through to the strawberry line, not tried yet! A very clean and tidy site, the turning from Brown's garden centre is easy to find, the lane to the site is no trouble, even for a motor home. Overall a beautiful site with many places to visit in the area. We will be back soon! Many thanks Phil,Amanda and Leiya the parrot
