Good site for visiting lots of places

We found Julie very accommodating with our needs, with a brand new van we really didn’t want to be on grass in March after some very wet months, this was no problem. Julie and I also contacted each other about our arrival and she met us at the entrance to greet us armed with local information etc. The site is well placed to visit so many places, the road is a bit noisy but when you’re out all day it’s not too bad a problem. There’s a good fish and chip shop just yards away from the site at the BP petrol station and the petrol on our visit was at good rates so all in all a good break, thank you Julie and Paul

Lovely stay, lovely people

We spent a week a Priors Field CL. The reception from Paul and Julie was very friendly and they even zipped up our awning for us when it rained one day whilst we were out. Lots of lovely walks and places to visit nearby. Nice easy access for our "oversized" 8m caravan! The road is busy but we didn't find traffic noise a problem and it means you get quick easy access to all the local attractions without having to wind your way down miles of tiny lanes. Thoroughly recommend this site and the lovely owners.

Weekend away

Great welcome from Paul and Julie, very friendly and informative. The site is plenty spacious enough for a handful of vans and has easy access to the village and local store. Don't forget to use the business card from the site at the Butchers for a generous discount. Great pies and sausages, I wish I'd bought more! The Green Man at Colne was a decent walk, though not too far. serving good food all day long at a reasonable price. If you just want a drink, the White Swan is closer and very welcoming too. As we travelled in a large Motor home, the park and ride at St Ives was not conducive to parking for us. On enquiring of Paul and Julie for a cab number, Paul gave us a lift into town where we took the guided bus into Cambridge. Thank you Paul. Others have mentioned the noise of the road. Yes, there were a number of cars. However, it is not a constant throb of traffic and certainly didn't disturb us. Perhaps the noise of the traffic is accentuated by the, otherwise peaceful, surroundings. There is an RSPB reserve a few minutes from the site, which due to the weather we didn't visit. Hope to visit again. Highly recommended.

A welcoming CL

The owners met us as we arrived and gave us a warm welcome and a printed sheet giving details of local shops, facilities and walks. The field was neat and the grass well cut. There was quite a slope so care was needed to get the caravan level. The cycle track adjacent to the site provided a safe route to the next villages and on towards St Ives. The road is quite busy and the instructions difficult if approaching from the east. We missed the entrance and looped round Needingworth to approach from the west. I wish more CLs were like this one.

Great little site

Extremely friendly and welcoming introduction from paul and julie giving us details of all the local places to go. You can walk or ride into St Ives via a cycle path. We will be staying again when we are in the area. It was great to meet you both

Beware the busy road

Stayed here for 4 nights as the write up sounded very appealing - plus it had the added bonus of a loo - a must for our friends who joined us in their campervan. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. We were told the ideal place to pitch up should we be battered with the wind - and we were also assured that a land rover was to hand should we get bogged in - it was very wet! Thankfully the land rover was not required! The site is a short distance from St Ives and were it not for the weather we would have cycled there - but there are some lovely little villages roundabouts - which we discovered on a cycle ride on our last day. There was no rush to leave as no one else was booked in. We enjoyed our stay - but we all agreed that £20 was a bit on the expensive side, especially considering its close proximity to a very busy road. We were all woken up just after 6 in the morning on the Friday by the heavy traffic. On the Saturday a speeding vehicle woke me up at 5.45! The traffic wasn't as busy as the Friday - but it was still very noticeable. Thankfully Sunday traffic was lighter. As mentioned above, I booked the site for us and our friends (also CAMC members) as they required a loo. The facilities state exclusive use of the loo - which is great - but the loo also doubles up as the disposal area for grey waste as well as the chemical toilet. Although the toilet itself was clean enough - I had to wipe the floor after it got covered with splashes from emptying the cassette - as did my husband when he emptied the cassette. We were all in agreement that the grey and black waste disposal should be separate to the wc, not only that the cistern took forever to refill so emptying the loo took longer than normal.

A great stay

We stayed here for a week with our friends, the owners Paul and Julie were very welcoming and knowledgable, our Motorhomes were sited together and we were able to open our awnings facing each other, but the wind came up so we had to take them down again. We had a great time and the site is basic but that was all we needed water and emptying facilities. The site is close to the main road but it did not worry us and Paul is in the process of installing a new high fence which will hopefully stop some of the noise from passing traffic, although it was quiet at night. Lovely area with cycle paths, all in all a lovely little site and a great stay.

Lovely site.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights and could not be more happy. Cycle paths on your doorstep into St Ives, with shops, pubs and restaurants. We pitched overlooking fields with stunning sunsets .RSPB site nearby and plenty of walks. The owners Julie and Paul could not be more helpful and friendly, we will definitely be back year after year.

Very pleasant site, exceptionally helpful and friendly owners

My first ever CL on its first weekend of opening and my first review. Lovely site, surprisingly quiet and peaceful despite the road being fairly busy when we got there. Owners were extremely helpful and welcoming. Due to illness we didnt stay for our second night or check out the nearby places of interest but look forward to hopefully returning when we get a chance for our walk into St Ives which sadly we didn't get to do. Apparently it is also a short distance to the guided busway into Cambridge so maybe we will need 2 days! I wish the owners success in their new venture.

Very Good

Stayed here for two nights over the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend. To be perfectly honest, we only booked this CL because we left it too late to book a space on any sites closer to Cambridge. We're glad we did get in here though, the hosts are friendly, helpful and welcoming and the site is peaceful and very clean and tidy. Overall, a credit to the hosts. TV Reception is good, as is the 4G mobile broadband (very useful for watching Netflix etc while away from home). The nearest town is St. Ives, which is very picturesque and Cambridge itself is a half-hour drive away. There is a well-stocked Budgens mini-mart in the petrol station about half a mile from the site. Going the other way a couple of miles, there is a large Morrisons with adjacent Costa Coffee, Subway and McDonalds. The only small issue is that it's easy to miss it and drive past (like we did), but there is plenty of room to turn your outfit around in the petrol station just down the road. We will be back.
