Stunning location

Having read some of the more negative reviews, I do agree that Ravenshill is a basic campsite and costs £25 per night… which is exactly what it says in the description, so I would argue there are no surprises! But the location is absolutely idyllic and, if you love walking and/or cycling, there really is no need to move your vehicle for the duration of your stay as there are glorious walks and rides right on the doorstep. Walking distance to the pub too, although the owners were on honeymoon so we didn’t get to try it and had come fully stocked up for our 5 day stay anyway. We did drive up to the Observatory for a brilliant presentation. These book up very early but we were fortunate to be able to get a cancellation (and thanks to Jackie for pointing this out in her information as we wouldn’t have thought to check otherwise.) The wifi in the phone box was excellent and secure, which was a real bonus as both the campsite and surrounding area are pretty much off-grid in terms of phone signal and 4G. And, although we had the site to ourselves and therefore had our own personal water supply, we would only have been sharing it with one other vehicle if it had been full, which is better than most large sites. Would we come back…yes, in a heartbeat.
