Cycling Heaven

I chose this site for is locality to numerous cycle rides. The site is everything all the other reviews claim. Clean, friendly, hot shower, quiet etc. Loved the 'Secret Barn Door' where there is a small function room for all to gather for a beer! But I would like to mention what's in the area for cyclists. I took both my mountain bike and road bike. So here's my list of rides in the area. 1) Hornsea to Hull Rail Trail. 8 down miles to Hornsea Front to start the old railway trail to Hull. I extended the ride to cross the Humber Bridge (70miles). 2) Road biked South down the coast to Kilnsea, taking in a cafe stop at Withernsea Lighthouse. Carried bike across the sand to Spurn Lighthouse. Return through all the lovely villages on the West side (90miles). For a day out of the saddle, it's worth visiting Hull, The Deep and it's other FREE museums and the Museum Quarter. Fort Paull is a must, The WW Bunker and Beverley Minster. 3) Drove up to Scarborough Park and Ride (50mins) and rode the Cinder Trail to Whitby (55miles) Popped down to Robin Hoods Bay and cycled back up! Achievement! 4) Drove to Dalby Forest (£9 parking) - I parked at Thornton le Dale (£4.50). Lovely little village. After my Red Route Forest ride (30 miles - 4 hours) it was nicer and cheaper to enjoy the afternoon at Thornton le Dale to relax. Chippy, sandwich shop and great ice cream parlor. Great memories made. Thank you to all at Rectory Farm!
