Beautiful well kept site

Booked here a couple of times recently. £30 pn for 2 people in motorhome. Exceptionally well kept site with manicured trees and hedges. Gated entrance with large spacious pitches separated by hedges. Toilet and shower in small sheds were ideal for us. EHU, water, bins, grey water disposal and elsan point all well sited and clean. Eggs in 'honesty box'. Small beck running through the site which had ducks. Loads of bird feeders attracted small birds. 30 minute walk to The Old Crown in Hesket Newmarket which has super cask ale and food on some nights. TV and mobile signal were both excellent.

Expensive for a CL

On arrival your name is on the pitch allocated to you which is fine but in the 3 nights we stopped the owners never introduced themselves at all which I find impersonal. They ask you to pop payment in envelope then pop into a postbox or pay via online. I never received a thankyou for payment . Toilet and shower a wooden hut which is querky to say the least they work but not the best and at £30 a night I think its expensive. Nice location is the only + point. Sadly not one on my hit list

Superb little site

Peaceful, quiet on our visit ( in fact we had the site to ourselves. ) beautifully kept and the toilet and shower are quirky but clean and very useable. We didn’t use site Wi-Fi as we have our own but signal was superb. Will definitely use again.

Stunning!

I don't want to tell everyone about this site as I want to keep it to myself. Friendly and warm welcome and clean, warm facilities. The pitches are well drained and clearly separated by shrubs with good electric supply. Cannot recommend highly enough but please if you are going to book don't cancel on arrival day as others will be deprived of a wonderful quiet break.

Very well kept peaceful site

Beautifully kept site in a very peaceful location. Bird feeders on each pitch, and the whole place is so tranquil. Easy access to lovely local villages like Caldbeck and Hesket Newmarket. Many local walks in the more peaceful northern Lake District. An absolute pleasure to stay on this excellent CL site. Well done and thank you to the owners.

Very Welcoming

Very well organised site! And so very peaceful. The owner,John, does everything himself. A qualified electrician, he has also made the sheds( toilet and shower) ,done all necessary plumbing and kept the grass cut and pruned the conifers. When I arrived my small tv aerial didn’t seem to work so John gave me an old aluminium post on which to attach my aerial( which I did with a couple of elastic bands). With this extra height my tv worked perfectly! The WiFi worked well mostly during the day but seemed to go down during the evening, though this didn’t spoil the holiday.( perhaps due to the rural location. I was only a half-hour drive fro Ullswater where I found the start of my climb of Helvellyn ( at Glenridding) and easy access to the lake for some kayaking. On top of this the weather was superb. Would highly recommend this site.

Fantastic little site.

What a lovely peaceful site, extremely well kept, excellent communications prior to arrival, facilities (toilet and shower) are in separate sheds but more than adequate and extremely clean. Easy access to the north lakes, Penrith and Carlisle. Certainly well worth visiting.

An absolute gem.

Bank holiday weekend and so peaceful. Lovely setting next to the river with immaculately kept grounds. The owners work so hard to keep everything so perfect. Clear instructions on arrival and good communication on booking. Friendly welcoming and helpful. Spacious level pitches. Quite cycling direct from site and the wonderful beer at the Crown at Hesket Newmarket is a short ride away. We cycled to Penrith one day and around Skiddaw another. 48k Hardly saw a car. Perfect.

Still dinner conversation

We loved this site - quiet, peaceful and beautifully kept. The facilities were memorable - really clever and very quaint.. we still tell stories of the little sheds! The site is located on the outskirts of the Lakes, an ideal spot to avoid the holiday crowds, requiring a bit more driving to get to the peaks, but well worth the extra effort.

Spot On..

What a great 12 nights stay at the end of August. So easy to get to from the M6 and very easy access once arrived. There was a sign by the gate informing us what pitch to use and was met on arrival. The facilities are first class and we loved the lights on the outside of the toilet and shower rooms showing us if they were vacant or not..I would definitely recommend a stay at this site.
