Perfect location

We only live a 30 minute drive away but like to have mini-breaks in our van to 'chill out' and here we were able to do this completely. Keith was an excellent host and made us very welcome. We like fully serviced pitches (and the water pressure here was the best ever) but the additional benefit was a wi-fi mast next to the pitch - never had that before on a CL!! Our visit coincided with the best weather of the year, but we were never too hot as the site is quite open and breezy. The accessibility to all the surrounding attractions - Abbotsbury, Weymouth, Portland and the fabulous Bennetts Water Gardens meant that we clocked up minimal mileage during our stay - the longest drive of 20 minutes to West Bexington was for a meal at our favourite restaurant at the Manor House Hotel. The security offered by the gates was a bonus - always more happy to leave our windows open on such sites when we're out for the day. There was only one 'minor' and it was minimal, but surprisingly the road noise was a bit of an irritant during the day when sitting out - however, not a problem during the night. Be aware too that it is a dual licence site (CAMC and CCC) so up to ten units - but loads of space as very spread out on the grassed area. Thank you Keith, you have a great site.

Top site, excellent value for money.

Easy to find, and a wonderful reception on arrival. The site has both well tended grass and fully serviced hard standing pitches. Which we believe are excellent value for money. There are plenty of local lanes and foot paths to explore in the beautiful Dorset countryside. It is only 5 miles to the bustling town of Weymouth, and there is so much to do and see in the area. We will certainly be back.

Random Selection from Website - but will be back!

Initially chose the site simply for its proximity to a wedding I needed to attend over the bank holiday weekend, but it is so much more than that! From the first contact Keith was really good to deal with and was incredibly helpful. On arrival Keith could not have been more helpful and considerate in assisting me to settle in and pitch up (lone camper, plus three dogs, makes moving van alone tricky!). The fully serviced pitches on the hardstanding were excellent - reminds me I must make up a grey water pipe before we next visit. The site is completely level which makes siting very easy. Due to the recent wet weather the grass pitches were not available, but the hardstanding was so much more appropriate anyway. There is space for the dogs to be walked on lead which makes having them with you much easier. The views from the site are lovely. TV and mobile phone reception (always helpful) were excellent meaning all caravan amenities worked well. Access to Poundbury, Dorchester and Weymouth is quick and easy so there's no shortage of things to do. The other great bonus is that access on/off the site is via electric gates which gives a great feeling of security and privacy. As the Terminator says - "I'll be back".

Very special site

So enjoyed our time on this site. Keith was so helpful and considerate. It was our first visit and we hope to return. We loved the space . Not crammed and lined in up in rows like so many caravan touring sites. We had wonderful views of the surrounding hills and countryside. Definitely recommend for those that like peace and tranquillity. Fran and Marian and Molly the westie

Space, Scenery & Special Places

We were looking for a spacious CL close to so much of what West Dorset has to offer and this was quite a find. Access is easy - just off the B3157 between Portesham & Chickerell and the site is spacious, flat and has the backdrop of the rolling hills in this part of Hardy Country. Keith and his wife were helpful from the moment we arrived. The hardstanding area is huge, but I would be fearful if you had the misfortune of an inconsiderate member not respecting your space as spaces are not explicitly marked out. We were told we could position our van to suit our requirements, so our awning was on grass and there was an abundance of space for our children to utilise for games and flying a kite. The main field is huge and even full (as it was when we were there) there's a generous amount of space. The security on the gate leading to the property is a great advantage. Yes, some may find it inconvenient having to use a security tag to open and close the gates but if, like us, you leave a BBQ, bikes and toys outside your caravan it's nice to know no one can just wander in. The wifi was an added bonus as I had some work to sort whilst on site and I found it super reliable. The fully serviced pitches work well and water pressure is good as is drainage. The Elsan point is a proper set up too. There is a little road noise but nothing too intrusive and it's handy being so close to the road knowing within a few minutes you can be in Weymouth, pop along to Abbotsbury or head into the delightful village of Portesham. We walked to the Hardy Monument and explored the beauty of the area. There's a farm shop just a minute or so down the road towards Portesham and whilst a little costly they have some fabulous produce. I had a nice chat with Keith and he's a charming guy. We were sad to leave as the kids really wanted to stay - and that speaks volumes. We'll be back! Highly recommended.

Second visit and still up with the best

My second visit to this Excellent CL. The usual welcome from Kieth on arrival. A secure well maintained and managed site. set in a quiet location but easy access to local places of interest. This is now my go too CL for visiting the area. Good facilities, large open pitches, free wifi and don’t forget the fresh eggs. Great site - good value. We will be regulars.

a lovely site Ian so helpful always a wave and so bam

What a lovely site a little noise from the traffic but nothing to worry about we enjoyed our stay and will be back, Ian and his wife who were in charge( whilst his grandson and his family were away) were brilliant always a smile and a wave could not ask for nicer people, access is easy even with our twin axle caravan PHONE THE SITE 10 MINS AWAY and the electric gates will be open so not not to block the lane, we left via Chickerell and thought this was an easier way to join the A35. We have been caravanners for quite a few years and this site is on our re-visit sites it is lovely. Susan/Colin brown.

Second Visit

Arrived for a second visit during a spell of extremely dry weather. Consequently, we decided to go on the grass which was great as were able to spread ourselves out without bothering anybody else. The pitches on the grass are not serviced but there is EHU. However it is only a short walk to the water and the CDP is the same wherever you are pitched. Plenty of walking from the site and there is dog walk mown through an adjacent grassed area. Easy access through locked gates which gives a great sense of security. Eggs are now available which are lovely and fresh. Current price is £19 a night on the grass and £22 a night on the hard standing fully serviced pitches. Owners are really friendly and helpful. There was a WiFi aerial being erected whilst we were there but didn't see Keith before we left to ask him about it. Great CL. Highly recommended.

First cl stay

This was our first experience of a CL.We had a warm welcome from Keith, the owner. Facilities were easy to access, entry and exit was simple and there are lovely views from the site. Good beaches and fab walks are nearby, so we would certainly stay again.
