Seasonal site

Lovely site but tricky to enter through gates. Once in the ground is very un level but once you get your van level it's a lovely relaxing stay. Perfect location for visiting family. Lovely watching animals etc. We will be back

Nice Site But Beware The Entrance And Exit

We have just had 4 nights at Rose Farm which was really enjoyable. The site is slightly on the small side but well looked after by the owners who were very helpful. Just to echo a previous comment, entry and exit to the site is very tight especially if you have a larger unit. It took a little manoeuvring for me to get our twin axle in and out, the key pad post can cause a problem when trying to turn. One other point was that we had no TV signal on site, something that we have never had anywhere else. Just meant we had to go back to the art of conversation and a couple of DVDs from a charity shop. Overall a very enjoyable site.

Quiet and peaceful site

Stayed at this CL last weekend, Friday to Sunday, lovely location and scenery. Pre-warned by owner of flock of geese in field so not and issue, although lots of droppings around. Also our dog is particularly well behaved so it wasn't a problem with the sheep and geese... The one thing that surprised me that hasn't been mentioned in previous reviews is the entry and exit. There's a post with keypad (not required) on it that restricts the driveway when turning in, long units, we have a Pegasus GT65 Ancona, makes a tight turn. Otherwise well recommended and will visit again.

Beautiful rural site, haven of peace and tranquility, easy to find, easy access, great place to relax in

We've stayed at Rose Farm in our motorhome a few times now and always look forward to it. One of the previous reviews mentioned difficulty of access - doesn't sound like the same location! Easy entrance and any competent driver would have no problems anywhere on site. This is a farm, so expect the poultry and rare breed sheep -all of which add to the charm of the place. They came over to investigate our van but decided to walk away when we got out! Facilities are fine -sensibly grouped in a corner by the entrance to the field. The water tap is conveniently placed in the middle of the field which makes filling up easy. Peaceful and lovely, thoroughly recommend this site.

a little gem

Having read the other reviews I felt compelled to add to them. Having stayed here since it first opened and have subsequently been back loads of times due to family living near by, I think it is a lovely setting. There is room for minor improvements but on the whole it's great. The chickens have never bothered us, they are not usually let out until mid morning, by then we would have gone off somewhere. If you want real countryside then this is it, I didn't mind hearing the cuckoo every morning at 4.00am, then the cockerel at 6.00. If you're lucky you may see the ducklings on the stream. I am hoping this location will continue to thrive.

Great experience

A lovely CL well placed for Hitchin and Harpenden but very rural. Easy access in our uber Motorhome and lovely to be amongst rare breed sheep and poultry. Owners could not be more welcoming, thanks a lot Marcus

Down on the farm

A nice little site which reminded me of camping with my parents on working farms when I was a child. There were chickens, geese and sheep meandering about the place, who were all very pleased to see us as we arrived and came over to investigate. After a while they plodded off and got on with their day and left us alone. The access to the site could be easier, we have a 6.7m caravan and it was tight getting it in and out, but any confident driver should manage without any great issue. Hopefully the, apparently new, alternative entrance will become available at some point in the future which would help some people. There are nice walks nearby, the site itself is pretty and well laid out. We would certainly stay again if we come back to this area.

Not great!

The entrance to this site is awkward; whilst the gate is wide enough, there is a wooden post placed about a foot inside of the gate, making the space smaller and awkward. I got in ok, but had to shunt backwards and forwards several times to get out, despite having only an average-sized caravan. The approach road is also narrow, without room for two cars to pass in places, which is concerning. The wifi just about works if you stand up by the house, but is non-existent on the caravan field, and TV reception is very poor. For a basic site with only the most basic facilities, we felt this was expensive at £15 a night. But by far my biggest grievance was being attacked by the aggressive cockerel - which drew blood on both my husband and I - and made me fearful of venturing outside of the caravan. There is a fence which the foul are supposed to be contained behind, but this had gaps and holes so they were not contained at all. The hens worried us all weekend for food too. As the owners left and went away on the day we arrived, we were not able to bring this to their attention. My experience of this site made me wonder whether to trust going to CLs again or to stick to main club sites, which is a shame. I don't recommend this site and won't be returning.

Unexpected surprise

Here in April 2016 for one week. Very Pretty location with a small river, 4 sheep and a few hens in the CL. If you don't mind sharing with the sheep and chucks and you love Wild fowl and bird watching then this is the CL for you. Knebworth & Hatfield houses not far away and Shuttleworth really interesting if you like old planes. It was to wet to do any walking, fields very muddy.  You can hear the planes at Luton but for us not a problem.  Downside we could not get a TV signal, radio & mobile was poor. Wifi ? What wifi ? Owners away so not able to ask. Thank goodness for the Scrabble. No information was available re area, Dr, emergencies etc.  Water tap was not fenced off from animals which annoyed us. The RAM, well although he seemed friendly I would not trust him. £15 a night rather pricey for facilities. We did have a good time but if you are always positive about everything nothing changes. Three lambs were born while there which was an "Unexpected surprise" even to the owners who's sons did their best for them. Well done lads.

Lovely place

A lovely spot by the river in a picturesque village. There are some good local pubs and restaurants nearby. We had a great stay and even saw a kingfisher. We will be back.
