A nice place to be!

As shift workers, my wife and I love to get out in the van, whenever we are off together. We tour over distances for proper breaks, but like to stay local for stays for just a couple of nights. This site is less than five miles from our home, in the middle of the Countryside. It is in a very quiet rural area, approx 1 1/2 miles from the pretty village of Elswick, which has a couple of pubs (we ate outdoors with our dogs at the Ship, and the food and beer were fantastic!), a village store which seemed to sell everything, and there is a farmers market at the village hall, although during our short stay, we didn't find the dates. The Fylde Coast and Blackpool are a short drive away, and Kirkham, with many shops, banks and a supermarket is five minutes away, and the site is less than 5 minutes from the M55. Facilities are very basic, including a toilet in a wooden hut, and outside clean water supply and waste disposal. The site recycles. The owners are very pleasant, and with electric hook up, it cost £12. 00 per night. Although it is a CL, it is quite a large field, with some, but not all hard standings. If you do not have a 4X4, and there are no hard standings available, beware if the weather is damp, our X-Trail churned up the damp grass trying to push a 1 1/2 tonne van onto a wet grass pitch. It is a lovely area for walking, and our dogs loved it, but there in nothing on site for kids to do.
