Great place to pitch up and relax.

Stayed here mid September 2023 for 5 days. Booked through Brian who was helpful and obliging throughout and made us feel welcome. Great views over Rye and the sea as stated by others. Lovely walks within easy reach of the site to Rye and other locations of interest. If using a hookup, read the meter before you plug in. Brian charges for the power you use, this is a reasonable thing to do I think, makes you consider usage which is good for the planet. I think it cost about £10 over the period, so not too bad. The access road is a bit bumpy and narrow but no problem if you take it steady. Make sure you have levelling blocks as there is a slope to the site. Recommend the King's Head Inn, food and service great and its an easy walk. We had terrific weather when we stayed which makes all the difference, this is a lovely area.

Excellent location

Stayed for 5 nights in September 2023. We fully endorse previous positive comments. Great views over Rye and the nature reserve where Camber Castle sits. Within 0.5 mile of two pubs with excellent food and less than 1 mile to town. Brian is very helpful and has dealt with the concerns about overhanging tree branches on the approach track. Paid £22 a night plus separate electric metered. Electric worked out at £2 a day so although overall price at top end for CL we think the location supports it. Had a little problem levelling so make sure you have ramps.

A little gem of a site near Rye

Good communication with the owner prior to arrival. Not far out of Rye down a lane and then a gated track(so out of the way and secure). This opened up into a lovely field with beautiful panoramic views of Rye itself and the surrounding area. Very peaceful-take your binoculars as the views are glorious. An easy walk to Rye, either through the fields or back down the road. The owner very helpful and friendly. We very much enjoyed a 2 night stay here and would recommend(and use again if in the area).

Beautiful View

I really loved this cl site, beautiful view of Rye and English Channel. its very peaceful and the owner Brian welcomed us. Lovely walk along the public footpath to Rye, approximately 30 minutes walk. The only issue was the driveway leading to the cl site, it was very uneven with overgrown branches.

Great CL

Unique location in a spacious, unpretentious, peaceful field overlooking Rye & the English Channel beyond. Each pitch has its own water & metered electricity. Lovely 20 min walk into town across the fields. Brian is responsive to contact/communication, very helpful & pleasant to deal with. Sloping site, though depending where you pitch this is easily dealt with using a stepped ramp. Highly recommend.

EASTER BREAK

We stayed Easter weekend, To be honest it was a bit too wet to stay but we did any way, we got bogged going in to the site Brian was very helpful and pulled us out, Had a lovley couple of days stay , walking into Rye using the track down the hill. When it came to leaving we got bogged, again Brian was very helpfull and pulled us out. The track into the site could do with a little TLC and over hanging ivy/trees need trimming back. But overal views were stunning . I would advise to ring before hand to check conditions. Couldn't wish for a nicer owner.

A very pleasant stay

We stayed on this small CL site for three nights in August on one of the hottest weekends of the summer and really appreciated the cool breeze coming up from the sea. The views are outstanding and the photograph doesn't do it justice as it is an uninterrupted view of Rye and the sea beyond. It was easy to find and access was easy with our four berth motor home. Although the site is slightly sloping we did not find this to be a problem. Brian was very peasant and helpful and we liked his laid back approach and interesting anecdotes. All in all a very pleasant experience and we would not hesitate to recommend this site. We hope to come back next year.

Disappointing for a new cl. Needs some work

This is a new cl and unfortunately needs some TLC. to make it an attractive go to site. The road in is narrow but manageable but the entrance to the field is not well signed. The first 'Rovendine' sign you see is the house name plate along with two others on a shared drive. Attached to a fence is an arrow pointing to the cl entrance. This is so faded that you need to get out of the car and go and have a look for the way in which is a few more yards further along but the CL sign is on the gate after turning in from the lane so care is needed not to over shoot. The entrance is very tight and our outfit of 11 metres came up against the bushes. Once through the gate the drive way down into the field is not very welcoming with a rough rutted surface and lopped branches lining the way then passed a very large old bonfire heap and pile of scrap metal.. Once into the field the slope is noticeably steep and at the time of our visit the coarse meadow grass hadn't been cut for some time resulting in wet trouser bottoms after rain. The pitches are numbered and well spaced out with their own ehu and water point. The biggest asset and draw to this site is the view from the field looking downhill out over meadows to the town of Rye in the distance with the English Channel beyond. This took away thoughts of what was behind you. Although not far from the main road there was no road noise and you could turn left or right here to two very nice pubs. You could walk downhill by road into Rye or use a public footpath over the fields. A much nicer option. Beware walking back up the road on return; it's a long hard pull. There are buses but there is no service on Sundays. I spoke to the owner about the rutted surface as I was worried it could catch the motor mover and to be fair he did rake it level the day we left. The saving grace for this site at present is the view, it was stunning

What a view

It was a little tricky getting our car and long Adria Thames through the gate, but fortunately it's a very quiet lane and we managed, because once into the site we were greeted with a magnificent panoramic view over fields, the rooftops of Rye and to the sea beyond. The site is sloping so chocks are needed. Each pitch has it's own electric and water supply, which we prefer (no danger of running out of water mid way through a shower!) Brian came to introduce himself and is a great conversationalist. It's a lovely quiet, tranquil site and we wouldn't hesitate to return in the future.

Excellent CL

Superb views over Rye. 5 spacious but sloping grass pitches with power and water - all looks newly set up. Only a couple of hundred metres from the main road, but no traffic noise. Approach is untidy but not difficult. About 1 mile downhill to Rye by footpath, with easy access to good network of local footpaths & bridleways. Great mobile reception. Would definitely stay again.
