Not a good start

Booked a pitch with electric, after speaking to the owner, through a very small window gap, I found all the hookups were taken - probably not the best start to our long weekend. We found another site at short notice with wonderful views

perfect location

If, like us you are not on the hardstanding part, you will need level ramps, and if it rains, be careful when manovering as some ground is softer in parts. A little road noise but nothing in towards. Mrs Dallyn greeted us and she is a lovely person. I would return again.

4th visit! Love this site

The grass pitches were understandably out of action due to the wet winter but no problem as we were able to get our large single axle van onto the hard standing area even though 2 twin axles and a large motorhome already on site. Obviously we were quite close together but still had the 6 metres between units required by fire regs. Its great having a CL in N. Devon with hard standings and such easy access plus the added benefit of a clean WC. The good access from a main road does mean that there is some traffic noise but no problem to us. Mrs Dallyn as friendly as ever. Incidentally when I came to empty the cassette Mrs Dallyn was by the emptying point and despite being of slight build and no spring chicken casually bent down and lifted up the manhole for me so don't quite understand the comment in another review about heavy manhole covers!

Tight squeeze

We only have a small motorhome but it was tight getting in and out with 3 other units in place and not much room between them on the hardstanding area.  One unit was staying some time so had 2 vehicles, another had visitors with vehicles which made access to the water difficult to fill up the tank so we had to resort to filling up with containers.  Grey water was discharged onto the grass which is just as well as not sure where the drain was and again would have been impossible to drive to.  Toilet emptying was also a bit of a struggle as it involved getting a heavy drain cover up and the hose to rinse off was difficult to find although the owner indicated water from the trough could be used.  The road noise was not a problem and the location was easy to find and convenient for shops/sights etc.  We probably would come again unless my husband finds it too difficult to remove the drain cover for toilet emptying.  Shame as the owner is most friendly and helpful.

Lovely CL, Lovely Owner

We chose this CL because we have relatives in the area and so is a good base. Access is easy (not always the case with Devon CLs!) as just a few hundred yards from A39. Yes there is some road noise but we knew that before we booked and not a problem to us. We visited in March so used the hardstanding area. WC is convenient and clean. Mrs Dallyn is very friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money at £10. We will almost certainly return.

visit 4-5 May 2014

Good value site near to Barnstaple. Well kept site with grass cut short. There had been very heavy rain prior to our arrival and the grass was too wet to site the caravan so the enlarged all weather area was utilised to best advantage. An additional bonus is the toilet facilities, which also housed local information and several paperback books for swops. The road was not a problem for us as we used the site as a base and the road noise in the late evening and during the night was minimal  date of stay 4 and 5/5/2014 Excellent value at £10 per night and get our recommendation. This has been one of several visits to this CL and we shall return again

Nice friendly CL

Very friendly owner and in a lovely area of Devon. Bus stop right outside the CL that takes you west or down into Barnstaple for other services. Most of the site is sloping so level blocks or ramps needed, extra hard standing has been provided but lawn area is well drained. There is a very nice WC that also houses the local information and bus timetables. The site is not too far from the Tarka Trail for walkers or cyclists and the trail is one of the best for cycling from Barnstaple to Bideford and onto Torrington. Several Bike Hire places available. The only problem is the very busy road that passes the site, although it does get quiet at night, apart from that a very nice well run site.

Very good value at £10 per night.
