Recent visit

Lovely clean site, showers and toilets looked after 24 hrs by onside staff. Fishing lake available although we did not use it. Very helpful if you had any issues. Closeby shops and places to eat and onside cafe which we did not use but will try it when we go back later this year. Good value for money at £20 per night

Great welcome despite us arriving late. Peaceful

We can't recommend this CL enough. We arrived very late after a fairly long journey, made worse by terrible weather and traffic jams. We still received a very warm welcome and despite the dark and pouring rain, were shown to our pitch. We were also recommended the café for breakfast/lunch. It was peaceful, the showers and toilets are fairly new, spotlessly clean and plentiful, although shared with their camping field the other side of the hedge. Lovely flat pitches ( we had the hardstanding which was very welcome with the torrential rain of the last few days. Pitch fee for 2022 is £16 per night, but contrary to the details on CAMC website EHU is currently included in that price. The café was open early and the welcome was equally warm. The food was excellent and good value. I am not one for returning to sites as I prefer to explore and always find a new one, but this one is definitely on the list for next year.

A lovely site convenient for local places of interest

We really enjoyed our stay here. There are five fishing lakes and it's lovely to stroll around these in the evening. There is a cafe (snacks/meals) open from early until 7pm where you can access the wifi. There is a shower and toilet block which looks pretty new. There is also one separate disabled shower/toilet with ramp access. There is a dishwashing station adjacent to the shower block. The CL field is separate from the main camping field and it's very spacious. It's not far from either the cafe/lodge or the shower block. There was some background noise from the nearby road but, although we are usually pretty sensitive to road noise, we didn't really notice it. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and we'll be back next time we visit Kent.

Fantastic Site

We have been coming to this site since 2009 and it never fails to disappoint. Every year sees improvements to the facilities. Showers ,toilets, washing up stations. The cafe serves a selection of food from snacks to meals. We use the fishing lakes so don't worry if you need something as there is a well stocked shop. As we have a motorhome the use of local transport is a bonus with bus passing which goes to Canterbury or Sandwich Deal. Kevin and his staff are friendly and helpful. What more could you want a beautifully keep site and one we will continue to visit.

Good area for cycling and fishing

Stayed at this CL 14th October 2017. The site is ideal if you want to cycle around the Isle of Thanet and towards Deal and Dover. If you are a keen fisherman there are plenty of lakes on site. There is a loo and shower, basic but working. There is a café on site for hungry fisherman and campers. Very reasonable prices. Sandwich is a very old town a mile away, with a great fish and chip shop. Great location for exploring the area and many quiet lanes around and Route No 15 nearby for cycling.

We love this site

We have been to this site a few times now, we love it, its spacious and has great views.. weve never had any problems with the electric hook up and thete are plenty of drinking water taps etc. Plenty of space to walk the dogs around the fishing lakes, chickens and ducks roam the site and you can buy the eggs from the little cafe and shop on site. Toilet and shower facilities basic but clean but most people with caravans on site have their own so its not a problem with waiting crossed legged outside the loos as they are normally vacant. A mile down the road is sandwich a lovely village with nice pubs and tea rooms... Canterbury, deal and dover all within easy reach also howletts wildlife park, but alot nearer and nicer in our opinion is wingham wildlife park about 2 miles up the road.

Great site for fishing

If you like fishing this is a brilliant site. Electric hook up is fine , be prepared to use your own toilet shower etc. We had a great time and will be returning. The only downside is the place to put your rubbish was overflowing and the chemical waste could be better.

April 2014

We had a lovely 10 days here. The view from the van was great. This was a very easy site to find - no small lanes to negotiate either. The owner was very friendly. The café looked good but we didn't use it. This site is probably heaven for the angler. We enjoyed watching the fishermen. The only slight hitch was the noisy road - no problem for us, but some may not like it. I would recommend this site as one of the better ones.

Sandwich Lakes

We were on this site not long ago and found it a very lovely place. There is ample dog walking, lovely views, and the fishing is excellent, with 7 lakes to choose from. Kevin in the cafe/shop is a smashing chap, very friendly and helpful. Yes you have to put money in some of the sites electric, but we averaged abou £2 a night, and it was cold also. Would reccommend the site to anyone who likes peace and quiet, with very close access to Sandwich itself, and also a lovely farm shop very close down the road. Loved it

Excellent for Fishermen

Overall the site is good for a Fishing Holiday, On site facilities were good and the wardens were friendly, I liked the little café on site with the chairs and veranda, unfortunately the weather wasn't great so had little chance to sit out. One complaint was the fact that only 3 sites are non metered on Electric [you pay £1 per night for the electric], our site was metered and cost me about £3 per night as it was cold, and the electric run out without us noticing and drained the van battery, I would return if I could get onto the non metered site, especially in the colder months.and my other complaint was the approach into the site could do with flattening as it's very rutted and bumpy
