An Oasis within easy reach of Leeds

Savile Town Wharf Marina is a jewel in West Yorkshire. We were a little dubious as we approached the site as it’s surrounded by mainly bed factories and UPS and bus depots, but as we turned into the site evertthing changed. The site is within the Dewsbury arm of the Calder and Hepple canal and is all on flat grass. The owners worked hard to fit us in an short notice for a 2 night stay visiting family in Leeds. On site is a great pub, the Leggers, which sells a wide range of cheep beers. Although the pub itself is upstairs, the toilets, showers and lots of benches are on the ground floor. There’s also another toilet block at the other end of the car park which were very clean. There is a 24 hour ASDA around 10 minutes walk away which is great for stocking up on provisions. A further 10 minutes uphill is Dewsbury Train Station from which it’s easy to get into Leeds in 10-15 minutes with return trains running up till 23:30 and are around £6 return. Good value for money, we’ll be back soon and recommend to all
