Ease of arrival/welcome

Not the "hidden gem" we had read about

We arrived late evening to this site, which we had booked just as a quiet stopover. We tried to close our eyes on the drive in but it is always hard to unsee things. The area has a sense of foreboding about it which didn't improve as we drove through the pub car park to the wharf. Yes, there are some older mill buildings and the wharf was crammed with longboat but the groups of teenagers watching us park up was off-putting to say the least. I got out of the van to hook up and the first question I asked my wife was if I should put on the security door lock while I was out of the van! The site is an extension of the pub car park and the hard standings are adjacent to the footpath around the wharf so there is public access adjacent to your outfit. There was no sign of the owner and I counted 7 piles of dog poo on our actual hard standing. The ehu cable was put away and we drove off in a hurry. I am sure it depends on the time of day/which day/time of year you arrive, but this was not for us.
