If you are looking for peace and quiet, then look no further

We wanted to be outside of the hustle and bustle of Scarborough and Sawdon Heights was just what we were looking for. A beautiful well kept site with 360 degree views and lovely large pitches. (we were sited on pitch A) nearest to the farm track. Incredibly busy farmers yet Andrew and Sue were fabulous hosts and always had time to chat (well if they didn't they never made you feel a burden!) Just 10 miles from Scarborough with further access to Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Filey, Staithes, Bempton Cliffs and Pickering for the NYMR offering a lovely trip into Whitby/Goathland/Grosmont. Fabulous fish and chips in nearby West Ayton where there is also a well stocked Spar. Ye Olde Forge Inn also in West Ayton did the best Sunday lunch with all the trimmings and so reasonably priced too (£10.50 ea at time of writing this.) So yes, if you want a quiet, well kept, friendly site then look no further than Sawdon Heights! Thanks Sue & Andrew - we'll be back!

Wonderful Views

This was a last minute find, and a great one. We hadn’t booked anywhere, so just phoned up on the off chance we could get booked in for one night. A very well kept site with fabulous far reaching views. A bonus was having free Wi-Fi as well. The only downside is that there is a bit of a slope, which isn’t ideal for our Motorhome, but easily sorted with blocks. Would definitely stay there again. The owners were friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend.

May Bank Holiday 2021

This is our second time here with the caravan but we used to visit Sawdon Heights when it was a B & B, staying here 3-4 times before we bought our caravan in 2020. It’s easy to find but the last mile, or so, is on single track road from the village of Sawdon. We have also recommended the site to some friends and they were able to join us in their caravan. They are so impressed that they will be returning. Sue makes you feel very welcome. The sight is well placed for Scarborough, Whitby and Filey. The NYMR is close by in Pickering, to name but a few locations to visit. There are walks and cycle rides close by in Wykeham Forest and Dalby Forest is a short drive away. You may see hares and pheasants in the fields and there is plenty of birdlife to observe. The distance views from the site across the Vale of Pickering towards the Yorkshire Wolds are superb. We will also be returning later in 2021 for another relaxing break.

A wonderful and peaceful site

We've just got back from our first caravan holiday in 5 years and I'm so glad we picked this site. The site was nice and peaceful and the grounds well kept. This is definitely one to return back to and hopefully in the not to distant future. Right from making the booking back in February to us leaving on Sunday, I found the owner Sue to be very helpful and friendly and even allowed us to stay a bit later on the Sunday, which gave us chance to spend the morning in Scarborough.

A fantastic site.

This is a beautiful site in a stunning location. there ate great views and the site is very well kept. We look for a quiet location with good space between vans and a patch of grass for our children to play on and this is made for us. The walking around the site is great and the addition of the new toilet block is a real bonus. There are a couple of good pubs within 3 miles but the real draw of this site is its stunning location, great biking and great walking is right on your doorstep. This is now my favorite site in north yorkshire.

Peacefully place

Very peacefully place, the grass is kept short but site is slightly sloping but doesn't cause a problem. Very friendly owners, we will be back.

Ideal getaway

Very well kept cl on a working farm with plenty of space and peaceful. For us as a bolt hole and a hours drive from home it's all we need. Upon arrival pitch allocation on a board and it's just a case of setting up and taking in the tranquility and views. The owners are friendly and the facilities spotless. There is plenty to see in the area if you want to follow the crowds but for us as reasonably local all we wanted is a chill out and that's what we had. Booked to return.

A proper Yorkshire view

We had six nights at this site -and you cannot fault the views- or the peace and tranquillity- you get here. The site is partly sloping, which means a bit more work when pitching up - but well worth it. You are a fair way from everywhere - which is what we went here for, so expect a drive if you want to eat out, go shopping or visit places. However, this is exactly what makes it so great for a peaceful 'away from it all' break. We loved it. As has been said, the loo is what it is, not luxurious but does what you need it to do. There is a board at the arrival gate telling you which pitch to go on. Have a look around at any other vans already there - it will give you a clue as to how best to pitch your van. The site owner is really on the ball with maintaining the site - he empties the bins daily and he keeps the grass well tended to and cut. The Anvil, down the road in Sawdon serves nice beer and the meals are good. Visits to nearby Pickering, Filey and Scarborough are easy drives to do. All in all a perfect little gem of a place. We would definitely recommend.

Excellent Site

Visited on my own while in the area to act as Safety Radio Marshall for Yorkshire rally in Dalby Forest. Booking was easy, friendly owners, slightly uneven site, access easy down farm drive. Toilet facility OK, does what it says on the tin. Great views, peaceful site. Will certainly return in the future.
