Near Berkeley Castle, which has been at the centre of British and some US history for a very long time, and Dr Jenner's house (of smallpox vaccination fame). Both of these places are free admission, free guided tour and free audio tour for Historic Houses Assoc members and well worth visiting. Good walking (take an OS map because the footpath signposts are sometimes not evident) from the campsite along the ridge of the Vale of Berkeley and along the River Severn. Site is secluded, flat, big and well maintained with good quality facilities. We had it to ourselves for three nights in June. Next to a fishing lake which is so well hidden you would hardly know it was there. Wide views. High hedges on two sides provide shelter in this windy part of Gloucestershire.
