quirky

We stayed at this site with some friends for a week. The booking process was simple and Robert was extremely responsive and helpful throughout and provided excellent instructions for towing routes to ensure easy access. The site is arranged over two areas - one backing onto the local (not main) road with associated noise where the facilities block is located and another further down into the farm itself which appeared on cursory inspection to be very much better mown and much quieter but a long way from the loos. Local area is lovely and worth exploring. It is a working cattle farm and fly screens are essential. Only big downside was the facilities block which is 'vintage' and it has definitely seen better days. No door on shower, only a curtain so privacy is a big issue. No external lighting means a torch is essential for after dark visits. There were notices saying that the block is not cleaned and it is up to the campers to keep it clean. Happy to ensure that I don't leave a mess if I use facilities but I do expect that if facilities are provided they are cleaned regularly. Toilet rolls were topped up regularly though so it was not clear whether this notice was a hang over from covid or still in force - the shower was not that clean whenever I looked in.

Lovely place

We picked this place as a CL that had a toilet and shower, allowed kids and was in good visiting distance of Aldeburgh, Thorpeness, Dunwich and Southwold as well as being in a beautiful part of Suffolk. We weren't disappointed. The place is lovely, the welcome warm (and quirky in a good way) and the peace and quiet just what we needed.

Great and full of character

We found this place as a last minute booking. Great location if you are after some peace and quiet with good walks and cycle routes. Nice little farm shop selling cracking meats and veggies. Owner and helpers all very friendly. If you are parked up in the far field its a hike back to the waste dump, but apart from that, we loved the place! Would deffers stay again

Excellent base for exploring

This was our second visit to this site and we stayed for 4 nights in the Top Field (adjacent to the entrance). We used bikes and car to explore the area especially the coastline. Luckily we had good weather even in September. It is a lovely ride to RSPB Minsmere with few cars. Also worth visiting are Dunwich, Thorpeness, Aldeburgh and Orford. The site is flat with 5 hardstanding pitches with electric hookup with views across the fields to woods. Entrance to the site is easy even with a big van or camper. There is a small toilet and shower block. There is even a circle of standing stones...but they are made from fibreglass! The farm shop sells local meat (sausages, steak etc). Payment can be made at the shop or online.

Lovely little site

Spent two nights here recently, we were on the bottom field which had nice views, well spaced out pitches, nice that they sell their own meat on the farm, lovely family who deserve credit for the diversification of a working farm. Nice to see the cattle in the field, we used the loos in the top field instead of the porta loo in the bottom field, all nice and clean would difinately stay again if we were in the area.

Beautiful peaceful retreat

Just returned from a lovely stay here over the Easter period. Stayed on the bottom field which only has electric hook up and water. The toilets and shower are on the top field but as we have a toilet and shower in the motorhome this is not an issue for us but if you don't there is at least a five minute walk to the facilities. We only used the toilet, and whilst clean they are basic. This is a working farm with a small shop selling their own beef (frozen), honey and apple juice. Anything more and you'll need to go to the nearest shops. We had bicycles with us, quiet country roads for the most part with easy access to Aldeburgh and Thorpness. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxing, peaceful retreat in some beautiful countryside you need look no further.

Delightful Small Green Organic Family Farm

Just returned from another wonderful stay at our special favourite place courtesy of the delightful White family. We chose not to use the hardstanding as there are lovely spacious grassy areas available. The shower and toilet are a lovely bonus especially as it means a daily visit from Richard Forest George and Blackie who I have to say keep it in tip top condition (it’s a farm) We love the location being within a short distance to the beautiful Suffolk countryside and coast. We love walking around the beautiful farm fields and seeing the wonderful organic herd the bees and eating blackberries. We love the wildlife we see. We love buying produce from the shop the beef and Richards tomatoes are outstanding. We love the big field opposite for excercising our dog. We always feel privileged to stay and look forward to our next visit.

5 day break on Suffolk Coastal fringe

Easy to find and reasonably good road access from A12 through Saxmundham. Hard standing only that appeared closely packed together as parking the car in the 'Caravan Club' tradition, resulted in our opening the passenger doors within an inch or two of the neighbours small porch awning. We then moved car to other side of caravan having agreed with other neighbours that it was OK with them as they had to park their tow vehicle (a camper van) in the farm yard opposite the field (as advised by the owners). Some traffic noise from lightly used country road that is directly adjacent to where vans are pitched. Toilet and shower functional but NOT exclusive to Club members. Whilst there, we evidenced other campers/caravanners from a field on the other side of the farm did make use of this facility. Also, the August BH weekend has a music festival in the field opposite this site, also owned by the local farmer. This resulted in some of the 'crew' setting up the festival using the showers etc from Monday onwards prior to the weekend. The key lock pad was not in operation to keep it exclusive. On one occasion, a crew member used the showers in the early hours of the morning (approx. 1.30 am). On one evening, I went for a shower only to be able to have a cold shower as the water pressure was too low. I was later informed by a fellow caravanner that this was due to the festival organisers filling up very large water containers that were then carried over to the festival field. My recommendation would be to avoid this week prior to the festival and unless you are visiting the festival, avoid the August BH weekend and with many strangers in close proximity, the safety/security aspect is of concern; otherwise the site is peaceful and attractive enough for a CL, the owners are very pleasant and attentive, the goats & dog amazing and the 'Pig' very pleased to see you, especially if offering her food.

A Perfect Place to Stay

Just stayed for two weeks on this very pleasant site. The owner is very friendly and visits the field every day, followed by his sheepdog and two goats! We tried the organic beef, which I can highly recommend. There are lots of interesting places to visit nearby and some great dog walks, not only on the farm itself but also on the beaches at Sizewell and Dunwich. Leiston and Saxmundham are close by for food shopping and although we ourselves didn't eat out, there are some good pubs in the vicinity that serve meals. We'll definitely be going back next year.
