What a fabulous site, overlooking Druidston Haven and fabulous sunsets

Easy to book direct with Kate, paid in advance and the field accommodates 5 large pitches with hook up. Some are slightly sloping so levellers may be required. There’s a tap in the corner of the field for fresh drinking water. Shared shower and toilet block with the other campers in the field next door. There were 3 toilets and 3 showers in the block unisex, all kept clean and tidy. Outside under a canopy there were 3 sinks to wash dishes too Elsan point at shower block. Recycling clearly marked. Follow directions from Book/website as the lanes are narrow leading to it but there are places to let cars pass, we were in Motorhome 7.3 x 2.3 meters and didn’t have a problem though. We stayed 4 nights with two other friends who also had Motorhomes over the Bank holiday weekend and we had a great time. Watching the sunset each night sat outside. It’s less than a mile walk down to Druidston beach, lovely long sandy beach, you can walk a little further to Nolton Haven to the right too. From the site If you walk down towards the beach, you can join the coastal path and walk into Broadhaven too which is a fairly flat walk until you go down into Broadhaven which is steep in parts. There’s a lovely beach and shops, ice cream and restaurants there. I’d recommend off the hook fish and chips at the end either to eat in or takeaway. All in all a great place to stay at £25 per night with it being Bank holiday and well worth it.

Simple but stunning

A spacious CL field at the end of a track that is relatively flat although ramps will be needed. The views from the higher pitches of the sunset are truly breathtaking. The views from the lowest pitch are slightly obscured by hedging but still stunning. We did not use the washing facilities as these seemed to be for the use of the neighbouring camping field, which we were not at all disturbed by. Check in was a simple text message and replies to a couple of questions were answered immediately which was very helpful. It is a simple 5 minute walk to the coastal path and it is possible to drive to most of the local places of interest within 45 minutes. The petrol station a mile up the road en route to Haverfordwest appeared to offer the daily essentials (milk, bread etc).

Good base for walking the coastal path

Lovely well-spaced site almost right on the coastal path. If you have a motorhome there's the one tap in the corner of the CL field. We weren't expecting the shower block to be open but it was, which was an added bonus. Sadly the hotel is almost out of bounds - members only. We tried to get in for dinner mid-week but they really weren't interested. Sad for those who have been using it for years - see the FB comments. The farm shop is well worth a visit and the petrol station between the turning off the A road and Haverfordwest is very well stocked. Great base for walking. Recommended is the boat trip to Skomer - thousands of puffins. We also did a ridge walk along the Pressili hills, having looked at them from the site each night. Great views and a lovely spot for lunch. Would recommend and would return.

Lovely rural retreat

Shortlands is in a delightful settling if a bit off the beaten track. The field is large, level and a choice of six pitches all with electric hook up. The water is accessed from the corner of the field and the garbage and toilet waste disposal point is just outside the entrance to the field but very handy. Other facilities were closed in accordance with club rules. We walked down to the coast from the site through a lane to get to the sea. The first night of our stay was wet and windy but that did not diminish from the lovely setting. We visited St Davids and walked to St Davids Head one day then yesterday we cycled to Marloes at the end of St Bride’s Bay. Broadhaven beach is long with lots of sand but a bit challenging to cycle out off. Check in was as per the welcome email and very easy.

Great Site, Great Facilities

Stayed for two nights in August 2020. This is a lovely site with loads of room, cracking facilities and lovely owners. The walks down to the beach are a treat and definitely worthwhile. Would stay again if and when in the area. Well done to the owners for providing a lovely site

Fantastic Summer break

We have been to Pembrokeshire a few times and now have finally found a truly great site to stay on. Whenever we visit we always ensure we pack for all weathers. This 10 day July/ August trip we had mostly amazing sunshine. The CL is in a fantastic position with gorgeous sunset and sea views. It is somewhat exposed but we always take "all-weather" precautions (ie awning storm straps etc in place) so nothing took us by surprise. The adjoining campsite was quite full but friendly campers mixed well with the CL caravaners. The facilities (3 toilets, 3 showers) were great, clean and we never had to queue. The coastal path is only a few minutes down a path and Druidston Haven beach just a bit further downhill. Druidstone Hotel, perched above the beach, does great food and happy to accomodate dogs in the bar area or on the many outside tables. There is so much to do in the whole area and we never tire of walking the coastal path. Favourite beaches: Marloes sands, Broadhaven South, Porthmynawyd beach (.. Pointz Castle (great icecream !!) and walk down footpath to beach) We found a great place only a few minutes away, Hilton Court. Great trails, woodland play areas, local arts and crafts and a lovely tearoom. The CL owners were unobstrusive but their support of a family in need on the CL was truly heartwarming and compassionate. We had a great stay, we will be back. Thank you.

Mostly great but with some reservations

There is no doubting the superb position of this site with wonderful views of St Bride's Bay from the top pitches. The lower ones do not get such a good view and since the owner only operates a first-come, first-served arrangement, there will always be some uncertainty as to whether you will have the views of that amazing sunset. The facilities are excellent - new loos and showers - though they are shared with the farm camp-site which is just yards away from the CL and thus at holiday times, the facilities would I assume be busier. We didn't meet the owners and there was no welcome letter as is usually the case with CL sites. I found this a little odd since the full cost of the holiday had to be paid upfront several weeks in advance and I would have expected a personal hello. No problem with access to the site. Some noise issues on our final night from riotous campers just opposite our caravan who were obviously ready to party over the Bank Holiday weekend. I would have found this more of a problem if it had gone on for more of our stay. This is a great site but with some caveats.

Beautiful weather.

This is our second visit to the site and it won't be the last. The club was busy over the weekend with all 5 spaces booked but the field is so big there is no feeling crowded. Lovely breeze in the heat and amazing views and sunsets. Showers and toilets very clean and not busy. Lovely site even if access is a little interesting.

Tip Top site

Spent 3 weeks at Shortlands July 2017, great pitch with huge amount of room and to top it, a view out to sea. The sunsets, superb, lying in our front double watching the sun setting!! Excellent location for visiting all Pembrokeshire. Druidston Hotel excellent, wonderful food. Only short walk or drive. Just wander down to have a drink and watch the sun set. Yes, the last part of the lane is a little dumpy, please do not be put off. Shortlands is a great place. Very friendly, quiet, clean and lovely hot showers. Loads of room around the van to spread out.
